“Nice Location - Great Hotel”
Reviewed 3 September 2013

The hotel is located in the old city which is great as we only had a short visit to Riga so was able to spend a day wandering around the old town which is very pretty. The hotel itself is quite modern but with lovely old features. Easy and cheap to get to and from the airport.

The only negative was that our taxi was late picking us up from airport and didn't have enough room for our group so we have to split up which was confusing after a long flight but apart from that we found all the staff very friendly and helpful.

One of the most comfortable beds too - had a great nice sleep here!

The best part about this hotel is its location - right in the middle of the old town, minutes away from bars, attractions, sights. Considering that it is a relatively small building, the staff have done a good job into making it comfortable and elegant - and at least our "superior" room did not feel cramped. Our windows faced a wall... not exciting at all, but probably more quiet than the windows facing the street, at least on a hot summer's night.

The hotel room had all the basic amenities - shampoos, air conditioning, even an ironing board. As it was on the 4th floor, it didn't have wifi access, which was sometimes patchy in general. We were very pleased with the cleanliness of the hotel.

The one area in which I have a bone to pick with the hotel was the breakfast room. The hotel was fully booked out and, as I've said, the guests live in a pretty small space. Therefore, we were unlucky enough to come down for breakfast during the Sunday rush-hour, to find a completely full and really very small breakfast room, in which food was disappearing faster than the staff (albeit nice and efficient) could refill it. We were offered to carry our breakfast upstairs to the hotel bar, which I was really not thrilled about (running up and down the stairs every time you forgot a fork is not my vision of a relaxed breakfast). The hotel should really think about expanding the breakfast room or, when it is really full, offer waiter service in the upstairs bar for the people who don't fit. The next day the atmosphere was more relaxed, we found plenty of tables and plenty of food.

Since this is a four star hotel, I was unpleasantly surprised that you had to pay to use the sauna (and, of course, there was no swimming pool). It should be free for hotel guests.

All in all, a recommended hotel and a nice experience.

This hotel is located in the heart of Old Town Riga and is easily accessible from the airport by shuttle or taxi. Reception staff was very friendly, free wifi connection reliable and overall the room was fine for a three night stay. We did not have breakfast at the hotel so cannot address the quality.

Our room was clean although there are some areas in need of refurbishing (ie: carpet). Basic bathroom amenities (soap, shampoo, conditioner) are available as is a hairdryer. We did have some issue with being able to hear outdoor conversations, but this did not bother our sleep; it is just worth a mention if you are a light sleeper.

Overall we would recommend this hotel for a brief stopover.

The location is excellent for visiting Riga as a tourist. The reception was efficient. The breakfast was good with very attentive and friendly service. The room and bathroom were well equipped with modern fittings and a good Internet connection and effective AC - important in the hot weather.
Our room looked out over the small, dark courtyard and bar, however, which meant we had to keep our curtains drawn much of the time and when drawn back the room was still dark - but we spent little time during the day in the room, so it didn't matter to us.
The city of Riga is charming with tremendous historical flair, wonderful restaurants and great music! It's a fun city and good value for money - and near to the resort of Jurmala and lots of sandy beaches up the coast - worth another visit, for sure.

there is much to like about this hotel. the lobby is charming with canaries singing and bouquets of fresh flowers. Also, the hotel has a very good location, helpful staff, and pleasant breakfasts.

but, once you go upstairs, this all changes. the rugs smell like a damp basement. the rooms are drab and àlso have a moldy odor. the management would do well to update this area to conform with the charming lobby and staff.

Room Tip: The only way to get a good room is to have the management update the smelly rugs and drab rooms.

Nice, small botique hotel in the heart of the old town in Riga. Nice, large and clean rooms. All facilities like iron, minibar, safe and aircondition that works even when the windows where open.
OK breakfast, but a little greakfast room in the "basement". Nice and friendly staff and OK prices.
