Location is great, as being right in the city center you don’t have to travel much to get to many popular places of interest and traditional tourist sights and routes. Actually, everything is in a walking distance.
We arrived on Dec 31 evening and checked in quickly to the Family Suit we booked in advance. Modern and I’d rather say designer building, smoothly involved into surrounding historical landscapes and architecture. The reception and lobby bar has it’s own style; the birdies are real ones!
Family Suit was ideally clean and well equipped; it has two separate bedrooms with double and single beds accordingly, and it’s important if you travel with a teenager who needs some private area (though there wasn’t a TV in a smaller room - was my daughter’s dissatisfied remark the moment she entered!). Bathroom has underfloor heating and is furnished with all necessary things including hairdryer, vanity sets and nail files, bathrobes and slippers. We were surprised to find even an ironing board in the wardrobe.
Our room was in the attic so I didn’t see or hear the street bustle but only the roofs of beautiful old buildings in the neighborhood. But mind you head when getting into bed, as the bed is close to slope of the roof!
I couldn't manage to turn on air conditioner for heating, but it wasn't very cold inside and moreover the bedding - linen and blankets - were perfectly warm and light so that one can sleep very good regardless of the room temperature :-)
Adequate buffet breakfast will meet everyone’s requirements: cold starters, hot courses such as sausages, scrambled eggs, pancakes (!), stewed vegetables, etc. and all traditional stuff such as cornflakes, yoghurt, fruits, pastry.
In general, it’s a very nice cozy hotel in the city center which I would definitely book again for my next trip to Riga!

The location is very good, the restaurant is wonderful: so delicious cuisine I met only several times in my life. If you stay in the hotel you have a 10% discount for a 1 dinner. The staff is very politive. The breakfast is good.

One could perhaps start with listing all the negative aspects of this hotel mentioned earlier:yes, you may hear the voices from the other rooms, and yes, the breakfast room is quite small and defenitely the room temparature is high but...
What is good is: the rooms are modern and clean, have a safety for free. The breakfast itself is ok; not that much variety but everything one could need in the morning. The service is. I wouldn´t say unfriendly, but polite: no one is coming to ask you "how are you" but they give the visitors the privacy one might want to have when spending a holiday.
The best thing: the location. Everything is near. When having only a couple of days in Riga, one does not spend all the time walking to sightseeings.
And the noise from the street: we had a room facing the street, well, it is a city, so it cannot be 100 % quiet but when one complains about it I´d say it is a bit overreacted.

Room Tip: Take a superior room

Highly recommended and would stay here again...

We stayed here eight nights in mid September 2013. And loved it. The hotel is in a great location in the old city. A great feeling walking out in the morning and straight onto cobble stones. The street is only one way traffic, but not that often, so it is in a reasonably quiet area. It has a mixture of modern decor amid the old brickwork of the building. Very nice.

We were upgraded on arrival, which was very appreciated. Our room #603 was on the front of the building, with a view of the opposite buildings and across some of the roof tops. It was two rooms, one a lounge/tv area, and the other was a very good size bedroom. The toilet/bathroom was a separate room off the entrance to the room.

The breakfast room is in the lower level consisting of cold cuts, cereal, etc. Just like most European hotels. The price is included in the accommodation. The bar is at ground level and we found it to be staffed from morning till late at night, and will serve you whatever you fancy.

And yes there is an elevator...

Staff in all areas were wonderful, and very helpful. Especially at the desk when we were trying to find some government depts for my fiancee in trying to find info on her parents. We had two staff showing us on a map where different places were. Very appreciated. Also when we were leaving, we had some postcards to post and asked one young staff member if the hotel could mail them for us. He said yes and proceeded to go out into the rain and put them in the postbox in the next street. Again appreciated.

There are a couple of restaurants in the street, but others are not very far away and only a short stroll for more selection.

Almost across the road is a small mall, consisting of different shops - clothing, souvenirs, jewellery and also a reasonable size grocery store where you can get your snacks and alcohol.

Old City Boutique Hotel is a great place to call home when in Riga...

A nice small hotel at a very good location i old town of Riga. A disappointment at arrival because we booked a suite but got an ordinary room. But except of that miss, the hotel met our expectations. .

The hotel staff are very helpful and professional. There was no kettle in our room - no problem, the barman gave us a spare one. I used the Ethernet connectivity in the rooms and it worked a treat. Take a 5m-long Ethernet cable and you can sit anywhere in your room on a laptop. The rooms are clean and comfortable, the bathrooms are perfect. The breakfasts are very generous - full English buffet plus cereals, oats, pancakes and heaps of fresh fruit. You're spoilt for choice and it's well worth it. A bunch of Russians staying in the hotel were rowdy but that could happen anywhere. All in all a brilliant, pleasant experience. I will happily book here again.

Room Tip: The newly renovated Key to Riga restaurant is a 3 minute walkaway, it's great value.

I travelled to Riga for the first time in October 2012 with my mother. The hotel staff was friendly, and the rooms were amazing! The bed was a little hard, but it didn't bother me that much. There was also a desk, a minibar and a TV with CNN and so on. The room was clean, modern and just about perfect regarding size for two persons. If i had to say something negative, it would be that there was a bar right by the hotel, so i heard some screaming from outside through the night.

The breakfast was simple, but good. There wasn't much space down there (in the cellar where the breakfast room was placed), but there weren't really that many people living at the hotel when we were there. The breakfast room was turned into a restaurant at night, but I didn't get to try the food there.

We spent two nights there and got the chance to see several museums, visit restaurants, and we got to see monuments and so on. It was very central and 20 meters from the hotel there was a shopping mall. Everything was close by, so we didn't miss anything. I would recommand to stay a bit longer than two days to see it all.

There was also a hairdressing salon just across the street with ok prizes and good service that i would recommand.

All in all i would recommand this hotel for solo, business, friends or romance. I really didn't get the feeling that the hotel would be suitable for families with small children.

Room Tip: The room we had pointed out to the street, and i think that could be one reason for the noise at nig...
