We arrived on May 30th for a long weekend, obviously with our stag in tow!

Now I always take hotel descriptions with a pinch of salt but at the end of it, for a hotel dedicated to bunches of rowdy Brits getting pissed up all day it wasn't too bad at all!!

The "complex" described really is not that spectacular although the best time we had was at a private pool party laid on by the hotel, if you stayed elsewhere there is no chance you would get such an opportunity!!

I was under the impression there would be a nightclub AND a lap dancing club, turns out, these are the same thing and it really is quite small. We got on with all the other parties there but could imagine it might be a bit of a train wreck waiting to happen with the wrong kind of groups!!

For the money we paid I think the best we could of hoped for was a decent room, nice staff and something to keep us occupied, the hotel provided all of these! DO NOT GO HERE WITH YOUR BIRD!!!

Where do i start ....... Arrived along with another 23 stags on a friday dinner time .... Our first " excursion " was Quad biking which is advertised as BBQ included ....... It was a oval circuit in the middle of a field an hour from the hotel .... 3 out of the quads were broke , we were given loads and loads of alcohol and then put behind the wheel before having the BBQ which turned out to be cheap local sausages and dry bread and nothnig else ...NIce BBQ ........

That night we had 1 hr to get changed before being taken on a guided tour of the best bars and was taken to three before being abandoned !!!!!

The following day we went on the Ex KGB rifle range .... ( 10 bullets from a Glock and 5 from a rifle !!!!!!!!!

In a nutshell i wasnt expecting a 5 star suite but 8 to a room , staff were rude and hated the britsh tourist , only food was pizza ordered in from a local takeaway which took over an hour.

We had good time and the staff were very nice.

However, this was a normal hotel converted into a stag hotel. Old double rooms now have 6 beds so very cramped. The Bar is also small and peopel from other hotels were bussed in on trips so very busy. We also had a VIP Dinner but this was served to us in teh bar with 100 drunk men from other groups hanging around.

The result is you will ahve fun but you have to rough it and eat rough food!

I have got back today from a weekend stay at the hotel. Opinons of it are slightly variable overall.

Pick up from airport: there where 16 of us, but the hotel rep thought there was only 8 coming and the minibus she had could only take this amount but she quickly sorted out a taxi for the rest of us.

Arrival: Chaos, but there was 16 of us oafs so they did sort us all out in the end. We booked double and triple rooms and as they ballsed things up slightly they tried to get us to have a dormitary, but we where having not of that and got the rooms we booked.

Rooms are small but clean and have everything that is needed for a short stay.

First evening: If it is your first time in Riga and you have no idea where anything is the lack of nearby food is a downer but we investigated the Lap Dancing club within the hotel instead. The women are VERY good looking, well most of them anyway :-) private dance is 20 lats, and the girl will ask for a tip after the dance as it seems they get paid by the hour and only get 4 lats or so per an hour (? I do not know this for sure though), so the tip I did not mind, but the 20 lats is very expensive.

The women I had a private dance with was gorgeous, they are not as filthy as most lap dances in the UK but they genreally go on for 10mins so slightly longer and I enjoyed it - though it is pricey it is a safe environment. She looked like one of the cheeky girls which was slightly bizare as I could not get there awfull song out of my head as she was doing the private dance :-) "this is life! touch my bum!", needless to say there is no touchy of teh bum allowed, shame really.

We had a guided bar crawl booked, though they made a mistake and did not have enough guides. So they called some poor women in from her day off and she was bloody miserable the whole evening, did not crack a smile once.

Went to 3 places, 1 bar was a toursit place could have been anywhere in the UK and very pricey food, 2nd bar was quite cool with a small dancefloor and more local people around then our grumpy guide took us and then abadoned us in the 3rd place --- which I have no idea what it was but from the half naked women and dodgy russian bloke asking if a good shag was needed was a knocking shop! they gave us 16 free beers, but most of the lads did not like it there so everyone left ------ the guide should have told us what the place was before taking us there and should not have gone.

We phoned the hotel and they sent grumpy guide back to pick half our party up as the other half went clubiing

Breakfast: Simple

2nd day morning, It does not take that long to walk to the center of town from the hotel and we had a nice walk to clear our heads and check out the area. Had lunch in a nice cafe and once you get your bearings it is pretty simple to get too and from the old town.

Activites: Lads had a good time, pretty good all round.

Evening: We completely bypassed the hotels options and went to a local restraunt near the hotel. Excellent food and good service, though I can not remember the name of the place! then we went to the Skybar which is a cool place apart from the crap music :-) then off the to Club Essential which is a WICKED night club, all had a great time, 5 lats to get it but beer is expensive. Watch out for some serious dodgy dancing from the men and try not to dribble too much over the women!

On that point just why are the women so hot?? the Latvian men are nothing special but the women are very good looking.

As for risks -- on the first night after being abadoned in the knocking shop and having no idea where we where a young random latvian guy approach us to 'help' but he was ok and as we did not know where we where going we just said 'alirght mate you take us where we want to go and we will sort you out some lats' - job done, everyone was happy.

There where dodgy men asking us to go into their strip clubs, but scary mullets aside I honeslty feel much more unsafe in London than Riga. Just keep your eyes open, same as anywhere in the world.

So.... Riga, I like the city and I would go back. Hotel Xdream, they are a bit disorganised at times, but the the staff are quite sweet mostly considering they have to put up with hordes of drunken Brits and Irish lads every weekend. Just get your bearings and head off to explore.

I would maybe stay at Xdream again, if there was a good deal on and the lap dancers really are hot :-)

Travelled in good faith for a weekend with a few friends. Was moved to total disgrace of a hostel in the city centre on 1st night because they had "overbooked" without any consultation or refund, also supposed to be picked up from airport - that did not happen.

Went to Hotel to complain next morning and was promised a room there the following night...staff were totally rude and obnoxious..no idea of customer service.....this never happened and had no choice but to move to different classier hotel for the next 2 nights. They still tried to charge full hotel charge for the excuse of accomodation they provided.

Do not go to this hotel, it is was awful and all they do is try and extract as much money out of you as they can get away with. They totally runied our weekend in Riga.
