“Second work trip and just as good!”
Reviewed 4 January 2013

My room was up on the top floor on this visit to the hotel, with lots of tiny windows (it felt a little like being in a castle!). Great breakfast, especially the smoked salmon - it seemed to me there was more choice this time than the last time I visited and some of the rooms appeared to have been renovated.

Location is great and price is pretty good, too!

Beautiful old-world hotel. Our room was quite spacious with massively high ceilings but both beds were in very poor condition. Our room location directly above the casino/disco (in spite of having submitted an advanced request for a quiet room) could have been worse, had it not been for the outdated heating system that made enough noise to almost drown out noise coming from the casino/disco below! The young hotel manager does his best to be accommodating and helpful. The rest of the staff are pleasant but I would not call them friendly. English language skills seem to be in short order with most of the staff, the exception being the manager at the front desk. Good breakfast with a nice variety of foods and quite freshly prepared. Location is good, about a 5 minute walk to center of the old town. Might come back here.

Room Tip: double check your request was received and understood by the hotel staff.

Situated close to the center of Riga, Europa Royale Riga is a good hotel. The staff is efficient, rooms are fine and the free internet connection fast. Rooms for smokers are available - unlike in most other Riga hotels.

But most important is the grandeur of the hotel, which I happen to like. Especially the breakfast experience is great, as is a visit to Benjamins Restaurant/bar.

Reasonably priced, I can most definitely recommend Europa Royale Hotel in Riga to business as well as leisure travelers.

Room Tip: Beware that many rooms come with two single beds, rather than Queen or King sized beds.

We spent 3 nights at this hotel as part of a tour group. Our room was big and well appointed. We asked for a second luggage stand and received it right away. Breakfasts were very good with a reasonable selection. Had an excellent dinner there one night. It was raining and the hotel provided us with umbrellas when we went for a walk or went to a local restaurant. Staff was always friendly and helpful when we needed something. Wi-fi worked. Location was excellent, only a few minutes to the Old Town and numerous restaurants.

Beautiful hotel in a good location. The hotel is very beautiful painted ceilings, antique furniture, flooring, furnishings. Breakfast is in a very nice interior. Breakfast is very good. With an excellent selection of delicious dishes.
Our room was fairly modest. With classic decor.
The hotel has a very good location. Next quarter of Art Nouveau. The center of the Old Town are within a maximum of 10 minutes
In the hotel I did not dine. We had dinner in the old town at the restaurant four rooms - loved the steak. recommend
Room price was very low, the non-refundable rate - about 50 euros.

We stayed here for three nights as part of a group. The main rooms are beautiful with painted ceilings, stained glas and wooden floors. As the hotel was full we were given rooms that could only be accessed through the dining room. These rooms have not been done up, but nevertheless are very comfortable. These rooms face on to the entrance courtyard and are very quiet. The bathroom is clean and neat with a bath and heated floors. Breakfasts had hot and cold foods. The hotel is located within walking distance of the old town.

Room Tip: Ask for a room at the.back. Front rooms face the tram line and could be noisy.

Have just returned today from the Hotel Europa Royale in Riga, Latvia and it is a definite gem!

Stayed for 4 nights in a lovely twin room with my friend and we had a fantastic time.

Hotel staff are friendly, attentive and ready to help at all times. We only had breakfast in the sumptiously appointed dining room with a fantasticly ornate ceiling, but would have eaten every night if we could have afforded it, as it was a little pricey for our limited budget. Breakfast set us up until mid afternoon and we had a fantastic choice of food including porridge 'like mum used to make', a platter of fresh fruit for a royal!, cereals, meats, eggs (including a chice of 3 and 5 minute bolied!), bacon, sausage, a gorgeous cheese and ham omelette, savoury and sweet pancakes, smoked salmon, salads, croissants, gorgeous fresh Danish pastries, endless fruit juices and coffee, tea. Eating was helped along by the fabulous smooth Jazz playing at just the right volume conducive to relaxing dining and conversation. Needless to say we have each piled on a pound a day in weight this week!

The hotel has a lovely outside sun terrace, a very nice courtyard entrance with a fountain in the middle, fabulous seating areas throughout the hotel, and a really comfy bar lounge. There is a casino for those who fancy a flutter, goods for sale including jewellery at a very reasonable price, and the location is quite central to the city centre and within a short distance of the must-visit 'old town'.

The lift reaches all floors and is only activated by the guest key card which also operates the electricity supply in the room and Reception was constantly manned, so we had no security worries as there was also a free security safe in the room.

If you choose to stay here I am sure you will not be disappointed - beds are very comfortable, tv in the room, mini-bar, shower over bath, toiletries provided and rooms attended avery day to ensure cleanliness of the highest standard. We had a standard room which we found totally adequate but there are executive rooms and also suites.

We caught the number 22 special Riga bus from the Airport after we landed and it cost us a very small amount on the bus and we were able after alighting to walk to our hotel with our hand luggage after alighting from the bus at the Stockholm Shopping Centre in the city centre. People carrying more luggage can get a taxi for the 30 minute ride (traffic dependant) for between 8 and 10 lats (1 lat is about £1.20) - very reasonable we thought as the hotel staff kindly booked us a taxi to get to the Airport for our departing flight to make sure we made it on time.

I would definitely stay at this hotel again should the opportunity arise - well done to all the staff and management! - 5 stars!

(Just a note to say there may have been a beauty spa but we didn't check.)

Room Tip: We were on the second floor overlooking the front courtyard located at the side road corner which wa...
