Spent three days in Riga with my mum. Arrived with buss 22 from the airport (only 0,50 Ls!) shortly before midnight, just a few hundred meters from the hotel. Just a short walk from the Central market, the shopping centers Stockmann and Origo and the bus/train station.
Friendly staff that was glad to help with weather reports and other questions. Quiet area but we could easily here guests leaving/entering neighboring rooms the last evening. Clean room, fresh bathroom with shower cabin. The view is boring even though we stayed at the top floor. Nice breakfast with lots of fresh fruit, would have liked some more sorts of bread though. Had dinner at the Hanza pub one evening. Had to wait quit long for the meal even though there were few guests. Nothings special in taste. Used a computer by the reception to send some e-mails for free. Great to have our bags in a luggage room at the hotel before leaving for the airport.

My stay at Hanza hotel was a average stay. It was good but not something special. Location of the hotel is in a area that isnt so nice to walk in when it get dark. But you can reach the old town quite fast. The breakfast had a lot to offer, but only toasted bread and I didnt really like the taste of the scrambled eggs. Overall an ok breakfast. The room was spacious and quiet. I had booked a doubleroom, but the double bed in the room was small and then it was a nother bed for one person.

The hotel prices seems to be quite high in Riga, I payed about 65-70 euro /night, and I wouldnt pay more. For that price this hotel get average rating. Nothing really bad but nothing really good ether. The service was friendly.

My wife & I spent 3 days there in May. Can't really fault it at all. The staff bent over backwards to help with numerous queries and made phone calls on our behalf. Breakfast was more than adequate with a variety of cheeses, salads, herrings, hot pancakes, cereals and fresh fruits and yoghurt drinks as well as tea and coffee. My only slight complaints was that there was not a proper shower curtain or cubicle over the bath so the water went all over the floor, the towels were rather small and there was no mini bar in the room. There was one in the reception though. Nice to have free wifi available. Don't forget your Lan cable.

I really enjoyed my stay at the Hanza Hotel and would love to return. It made a very comfortable base to explore charming Riga and the surrounding area. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and the staff were friendly and helpful.
I would highly recommend a visit to the Blue Cow Resturant to sample tasty Latvian cuisine and the Gauja Bar to try local Abula dark beer.
There is lots in Riga to see and do; the Musuem of Occupation and National Gallery are well worth exploring. If you are looking for something to do once you've explored Riga, Majori on the coast and is only a 30 minute train ride away. Trains from the central station are frequent and inexpensive.
