“Terrible Service”
Reviewed 16 July 2013

Although we did not stay here we went for meal, a big mistake. The one girl serving was rude and bad mannered and we waited nearly 2 hours for our meal -evidently the chef is so slow meals have to be ordered in the morning. When the food eventually arrived it was not particularly good and tasted like it had had come out of a ready mix.We would not recommend this place.

My review of the Hotel Pils may be swayed a bit more positive because they were so accomodating to us when the hotel we booked in Sigulda gave our room away (Hotel Sigulda..beware of the Hotel Sigulda; We had a gurantee with a credit card, a confirmation letter in hand, arrived at check in time and still our room was "given away"). Hotel Pils had a room available and gave us the room at a very good price. The room was small, the A/C didn't work but it was very clean and had what we needed. I didn't find it as noisy as other reviewers and managed a good nights' sleep. The breakfast isn't the grand buffet you see at some European hotels but it was good enough to keep us going. The staff were very nice and accomodating. There is no lift - important to know if your luggage is heavy. All in all, can't complain for the price and locaiton (center of town, walking distance to transit).

We stayed at the hotel for two days. in this period of time our room didn't get cleaned at all.
the breakfast was amazingly cheap- we came at around 9am and by then had only some bread with cheese and 3 pieces of ham left, the milk seemed to by out of date. The young girls who worked at the reception were spending more time chating on the phone and having guest over- veru noisy throught out the all night.
liked the place- in the center of Sigulda- the only plus I can point out

Clean, nice hotel nothing very outstanding. Our room had a pretty view to the Pils street. The walls of our room were thin so it was possible to hear how kids from next room played and run around the whole evening. Double room with extra bed was a bit more than 30 euros. Breakfast was very simple. The hotel itself is located at the center of Sigulda. In general would recommend.

Hotel Pils is situated in the center of town. It is next to the bus station, (Although you are not disturbed by any noise) and just round the corner from the train station. We flew into Riga, got a bus to the center and then took the train up to Sigulda, all for the bargin price of £3.00.
We also opted for the add on of meals for the week. (£43 for two for four nights) You may wish to take this offer up, because it is just to cold to go out at night (-26.5 !!!)

The langague barrier can be a problem, but their English is a lot better than my Latvian, and we found the local people very friendly and helpful. I would recommend popping onto the information point at the bus station. They can answer any of your questions.

Our main aim of the trip was to try the Bobsliegh ride, which is a must, and we also did a bit of skiing and boarding. You can hire equipment, by the hour for £4. You have to buy a lift pass with £5 returnable deposit and then you top it up with credits to get on the lifts. (about 35p a go) The pieste's aren't the longest, but they are empty and well kept so its well worth the money.

Make full use of the coffee shops, they sell the best cakes and you can't believe how cheap it is. We had a blast and will definately go back.

This small hotel (12 rooms) turned out to be next to the bus terminal although you can’t tell from their addresses (in a quiet area). I had a single room at 21Ls/30 euros/$38 with a good breakfast included, a real bargain. I was pleased with the decor (looked almost newly refurbished) and general comfort although more clothes hangers and another bathroom shelf for personal items were desirable. There was a flatscreen TV (only BBC in English) and Ethernet connection (understood some have WiFi). Staff was friendly and helpful. While I heartily recommend this hotel, an elevator would be good if one has difficulty with steps.

Game to Sigulda for work. Walked-in and asked room. Single paid 30 EUR only and as they didn't had actually any singles eft, they put me for that price to big family room.
Location is good, in the centre but yet quiet.
Staff gave good advice about local food, places to eat, Tourist information ect.
Small and cozy.
Only small comment about wifi in the room, it doesn't spread to third floor. But it is OK, slept longer...
