Apart from the crater there isn't really much to see or do here but the impact site where the meteorite buried itself into the ground is impressive enough. The crater really is quite large and it is possible to take a short stroll around the rim, where a path has been cleared.

Not likely you would spent more thant 20 minutes here but still worth the trip if you happen to be in the neighborhood. It is a fairly short drive from Kuressaare but might be difficult to reach unless you have your own means of transportation.

The crater is a deep depression partially filled with water. There are walkways all around it, in trees. It is just like a big park. There is not a lot of walking. It is of general interest because of course the hole was caused by a meteor, but it is a pleasant sight, with limited "wow-factor".

Nothing prepares you for the size of this crater! The photos don't have much scale unless there are people on them, and even then it's difficult to grasp the scale. To appreciate the crater fully your visit should be on a sunny day so you can wander around, walk down to the water's edge and look up and around, then climb up the opposite side and walk around the top of the huge pile of debris that was thrown up by the impact. Imagine what this must have been like after the impact.
Without doubt the best thing we saw in Estonia. The ferry from Virtsu to Kuivastu is amazing value for money and a fast, frequent service so the island is easy to access.

It was a really interesting place if you like this kind of thing. The size is remarkable and you can clearly see the multiple craters spread around the area.

We arrived before the museum opened but it was free to bites the craters and just a short stroll from the car park.

You can walk around the edge or get down right to the waters edge.

Well worth a short detour off the main road.

Check this huge crater. It is easy to find and also has a nice place to drink coffee. You could buy some nice things made from dolomites here.
