Sleek country hotel, with rope floors in the (my?) bedrooms. Wide the (my?) bathrooms and the shower boxes. First-rate the breakfast, in a relaxed ambiance with excellent soft background music. Well furnished all the rooms; splendid the " english library". Very kind and beautiful the receptionist (maybe she is Miss Lithuania….?).

The location was fantastic - fight opposite the Trakai Castle and on the Lakeshore. Rooms were well appointed but a bit on the small side. We had a castle view double which lived up to the name. There was car parking if pre-booked. Essential as parking seemed to be a nightmare in the town.

The staff were hopeless – no one seemed to be in charge and they were in much need of training. We arrived at 14.45 – check in was 14.00 and they said room not ready come back in an hour. Which we did – then “oh the administrator has gone to lunch” come back later. Eventually we got our room at 16.15.

The next day we were awoken early by a noisy lorry being unloaded to find an opera staging, sound system and seating for 250 being set up right outside our bedroom window – overlooking the lake and a pontoon. Which was fine as we like opera and we got a great view from our room – but it would have been good it they had mentioned it! Or offered us a free ticket for the inconvenience caused.

We were there 4 nights – each day we returned to the room after 16.00 to find it had not been cleaned or serviced – we had to ask each time and reception looked at us as if it was something very unusual to expect a 4 star hotel room to be cleaned daily! They said “oh you want it cleaning? When?” When I said now, quickly they were very off hand even though it was late afternoon.

Each day something was missed – glasses and tea cups went unwashed, bottled water not replaced toiletries not replaced, towels mission and the blind was stuck in the raised position and not repaired. The shower fixing was broken and we had to ask for it to be fixed. The curtain tie back kept falling out of the wall and was never repaired. In a hotel of this standard these things should be checked.

The restaurant was nicely furnished – and the food was mostly good except for a Carpaccio of venison with “smoke” which came in a big cover which when removed smelled like someone one had been puffing Turkish cigarettes under it and completely spoiled the taste of the meat.

It could be really fantastic – but only with a good manager who is hands on and some thorough staff training.

Room Tip: Pay extra for a castle view room at the front of the hotel.

We actually visited this hotel a few years ago but it left such an impression that I wanted to review it. To this day, it is the best breakfast we ever had - anywhere - bar none! A huge spread was waiting for us, and upon sitting down we found out we could also have omelettes well! The view from the dining room of Trakai castle was breathtaking. Excellent value - if you go to Trakai, make sure you stay here. You won't regret it.

Astonishing experience with facilities provided by the hotel. We have visited this place during the calm after-season period, so the hotel was relatively empty (haven't actually seen any other guests during our stay). Felt like staff tried their best to please only us (of course they did not), but seriously, when were out of our room in the morning (late morning - after breakfast time), very cosy dining room's table was waiting for us and a waitress already waiting to get a custom request based on our desires for the late breakfast.
I had to send some e-mails, but my computer nor phone could not connect to their network, so they lended me their own PC for unlimited time, which was very nice of them.
Great view, great location, market outside the hotel on the lake side made our stay even more enjoyable.
Various places serving traditional food were located very close to the hotel.
Every evening/night we were exploring this amazing location by walking around in parks or by lake and flickering lights from the castle and around it were exposing illuminous colors of the nature around us. Romantic and calm place it is.
Before leaving the place, we took a boat and floated around the castle to enjoy this magic place for the last time.

Room Tip: There are two choices: room with the view to the castle and a room with the view to the garden

I was there for business meeting.
Location and views are great.
Food was really good, like in most places in Lithuania and service was really good.
Accomodation was good.
After meeting I had 6 hours till flight back home. Hotel provided me seminar room for free where I was able to work. They came many times to ask if I am happy or need anything.

Spent one beautiful night at this B&B in the fall and thoroughly enjoyed the whole experience. We had driven to Lake Trakai on our way from Vilnius to Riga, and thought we would stop by for a few hours. The place was so peaceful and relaxed, we decided to spend the night. The weather was perfect and the views from the outdoor terrace were gorgeous, overlooking the calm lake and the castle on the island.

We initially ate at the hotel restaurant and really enjoyed it - my rabbit dish was awesome! Tender, perfectly seasoned and done. My wife - a super picky eater - thought it was delicious, too!

Initially, we thought it was too pricey for a night, so we started back towards Riga, but somehow we felt like we wanted to stay and came back. They gave us a superior room which was quite small, but it's a house, not a hotel built for that purpose. It's very Victorian feeling inside and the room had perfect views overlooking the castle, although keeping the blinds and curtains open on the ground floor allowed everyone walking inside to be able to see inside. The beds and sleep were great and it was a quiet, calm evening spent.

In the morning, we enjoyed the breakfast area as it was done in a very nice and quaint style, although the choice of breakfast for us was not that great, but that's no fault of the hotel.

There are small tot lot type toys around the property that young kids enjoy themselves on.

I can't say much about maintenance and housekeeping as we were there only for a night, but from the level of service we received during our brief stay, I would say they would be fine.

Not much I would change about the place, although a little more space in the rooms would have been welcome, but again, like noted, this wasn't built as a hotel initially.

Room Tip: Get a superior room overlooking the castle
