“Just beautiful”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 via mobile

Resort fantastically fits in the landscape. You feel yourself being united with nature, while still in luxury hotel enviroment. Whole territory is decorated with mill stones and different wooden details. There is even private waterfall! Somehow, villa actually looks much better, then on the pictures provided on their site. Georgian restaurant is very tasty as well, and breakfast was very rich and tasty.

I think the reason pure reviews here (ended few years ago) is the name of the hotel is not correct - now its called Akmenine rezidencia. It has very high ratings on other sites, but not on Tripadvisor. I would suggest to change the name to correct one.

The web site for this hotel shows a gorgeous lakeside property, boasting of glamorous accommodations and elegant dining at its Georgian restaurant and rustic rooms overlooking the water.
We booked over the Internet and the hotel requested we wire money to cover the first night into their bank account. First sign of trouble - after wiring the money, I emailed to confirm the reservation and they insisted the entire amount did not arrive. I checked with my bank, it said everything went through okay. I told them so and they said we'd work it out when we arrived.
Upon our arrival, I immediately noticed that the property looked pretty run down. No one was at the reception desk so I walked into the restaurant and the woman just looked at me, grabbed a key and showed me to our room. The room was tiny, dark and noisy. It was a bright summer day but with NO windows we had to turn on the two extremely low-powered lights to see the room. The bathroom was large and modern but the room itself was dingy and tired. A door opened on to the narrow porch over looking the water but without a screen to keep out the hordes of mosquitoes, we closed it...or tried to close it. Humidity or time had taken its toll and it took roughly 10 minutes of hauling on the handle to close the door...sort of. As for the noise in room #1, we walked down the hall opened another door and identified the sources of the extremely loud hum and vibrations as a hot water tank, laundry area and generator.
I walked back to the restaurant and asked to see another room. She showed us to the room we'd seen on the Internet and guess what, the price was double.
We said we'd take it for one night and cancelled the remaining three nights. This room, #5 was quite nice with a wood burning fireplace, small TV (very few channels), nice towels and robes...but it was the little things that were missing. There were no glasses in the room, signalling that perhaps you could not drink the water...but no bottled water. The toiletries were cheap and there was no kleenex. The bathroom featured an enormous hot tub with a retractable shower head to rinse yourself off.
The woman from the hotel sought us out to offer us another place to stay, one of the cabins on the property, at a much lower rate as long as we stayed 3-4 days. We toured a cabin and again...it was featureless with nothing on the walls, oddly matched furniture, the world's tiniest TV and uncomfortable furniture on the deck.
Touring the property, walking through grasses heavily populated with leaping frogs, we could see this had once been a very popular place for large gatherings such as weddings. But the gorgeous rustic carved wood chairs had moss and lichen all over them, the boardwalk had loose and rotting boards and some of the areas advertised on-line appeared to be closed (ie: the wine cellar, Russian hot tub, etc.)
Lakeside hotels usually offer guests the opportunity to rent or use boats. This place did too...but no longer. The two boats we saw were half-sunk and rotting. That said, the landscaping and gardening was very nice.

While there certainly was dinner traffic, it appeared that only two other rooms were occupied...both by Russian families.

Pluses:
Dinner is served on a dock jutting out onto the lake. It was really nice. The tables and chairs were comfortable underneath canopies. The food was also very good Georgian fare.

Breakfast was a huge surprise. Even though they nickle and dimed us by charging extra for a second cup of coffee and tea (perhaps peeved we were leaving early), the hearty breakfast of cheese-filled crepes with berry syrup, meats, bread, fruit and vegetables was sublime. Again, served outside on the property's many terraces.

One of the staff members, the blonde woman who served us dinner and offered us other accommodation options was really nice. But no one else seemed to know how to smile.

We left promptly after breakfast.
