“Need to visit it”
Reviewed 25 July 2014

We took short route - 5.69eur for adult.
Actually the garden was more worth seeing than palace. A lot of kinds of roses make a impression. but a big part of it end to blooming. The visit of this place took 2 hours.

“Well worth a visit”
Reviewed 20 July 2014 via mobile

This is an amazing palace and well worth the visit. Take the long tour option to see the private rooms. Spectacular grand rooms. Nice gardens. Don't miss the basement display area. Had lunch at Trogs near the entrance...great food and vegetarian options. Reasonable prices throughout and only about a 70 minute drive from Riga

“What do Rundale and Trakai Castle have in common?”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

In the 1970s both sites consisted of nothing more than the foundations of the original buildings. YES. Both Rundale and Trakai are 95% rebuilds faithfully following the original plans (Rundale) or the known plans (Trakai).
The really outstanding aspect of Rundale that earns the site a potential <Double Excellent> was the buying policy of the folk who furnished the Palace. The low-budget cost-effective policy was to buy objects - furniture made in the late 18th century, portraits and landscapes in the 'styles' of known artists of that period - that had no providence. The artists or craftsmen have not signed them; ownership records do not exist. Thus the buyers could purchase these objects for a pittance.
Indeed, Rundale is filled, as the style of the drawing rooms of the late 18th century warrants, with an astonishing variety of artwork, furnishing, objets d'art and pottery knick-knacks.
Truly wonderful.

“Stunning palace - a rococo gem. Beautiful rose gardens.”
Reviewed 12 July 2014

A beauty of a palace. Wonderful structure and just the right size. A gem of rococo decoration. The gardens are very pleasant to walk around in Summer. There is a nice little cafe in the gardens where you can buy food and they serve draft beer and drinks. A lot of the palace has been restored as it has previously been a granary store and an elementary school but it has been sympathetically done. Definitely worth a visit.

“Palace to see in Latvia - little Versailles”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

Rundales Palace is a work of architect Rastrelli, and is compared to little version of Versailles in France. This very impressive Palace not only boost impressive historical exhibition and several very impressive halls ( most impressive, the white hall) and palace rooms, which have been renovated after the original settlement of the place. The second thing is beautiful gardens, must visit in summertime - every month brings a different gift of flowers - Peonies for June, Roses for July & August. Gardens are endless green labyrinths and has plenty of little romantic corners and places where to stop and just enjoy. There are a few facilities in territories such as restaurant (more pub style), coffee shops, souvenir shops etc.

Rundales palace is about 1 hour drive away from Riga and it is easily to be found. It has large parking plot when arriving and plenty to offer for a great day out. I would suggest to combine a day trip to also visit Tervetes Nature Park on the way and then drive to Bauskas Castle wich is also near-buy.
