“A beautiful place to stay in Tavira”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 30 June 2011

We recently stayed at this wonderful villa for 6 nights but could have easily stayed for a further 6 nights. Our hosts Jane+John made are stay very special indeed. The breakfast are fabulous with a large selection of cereals/toast/fresh fruit and not forgetting Jane's homemade muffins and banana bread. The rooms are lovely/light/clean and comfortable.

The pool area is great we spent much of our days lazying around the pool reading. If you forget to take a holiday read Jane has a large collection of books available. There is a honesty bar also which was handy and we loved been able to have a drink by the pool.
The town of tavira is a 5 minute drive area. Jane was kind enough to offer us a lift into town.

If you are looking for a place to stay in Tavira we would highly recommend this villa and we are looking forward to our next stay there very soon.

Sometimes we struggle to find a large comfortable villa to suit our large family group needs - good size bedrooms, enough bathrooms and a good size lounge - but this fitted the bill. Importantly as well it had a very nice, relaxing yet secure (good for little kids) pooled area.
This is predominantly a B&B throughout the year but owners John and Jane rent the entire property out in summer months, which is how we rented it. By being a B&B we felt it had both pros (e.g. bedrooms with good facilities, all en suite, a 'suite style' 5th room as it's the owners accommodation usually) and a couple of cons (kitchen and cooking equipment upstairs on top floor in the owners part of villa opened for whole villa rental). There is a very good outdoor cooking area but relies on good weather. Admittedly it largely is in summer months but there's a detached feel to indoor kitchen facilities and outdoor cooking area.
Good outdoor eating area, cooking area and as previously mentioned the pool. We thoroughly enjoyed the boules area as well (adults and kids!) One slight disappointment for a property on a large plot is it's lack of grassed 'play' area suitable for smaller children. The
area around the perimeter of the villa itself is stone. There are grassed areas beyond the garden walls and alongside the long driveway but we needed to supervise our younger children (sub 6 yrs).
The owners John and Jane live in close proximity to the villa when they rent it out. They were very friendly and would provide advice on the area if asked. They recommended a very good restaurant in Tavira which - near a large road bridge you'd probably not think of going to - but trying to beat the locals for a table each night tells you all you need to know about it's quality!
A small bug bear for those in the group with wireless devices the published Internet connection was very inconsistent and we gave up on trying to use it. A combination of Portuguese telecoms and the wireless router being in the owners nearby property.
All in all we enjoyed our stay in this villa. The facilities were good, it was conveniently located for travelling to Tavira and the Eastern Algarve, and Jane and her friend provided a very comfortable and spotlessly clean accommodation.

What a great place to stay. Beautiful outlook, peaceful and extremely comfortable and breakfast delicious, with plenty of choice and very healthy. Jane's homemade (and mostly homegrown) jams and muffins etc. escpecially lovely. Enjoyed lots of swims in the pool, especially early morning before breakfast.
Thanks to Jane and John for giving us a great base to stay at and to enjoy the lovely area of Tavira.

My mother, father and I loved this B&B. We stayed a week and found it the perfect location for touring the east side of the Algarve. Jane catered for all our needs, which was a mean feat considering my father is a fussy eater. Our rooms were comfortable, warm (we stayed in February) and spotlessly clean. There was a great view across the terrace and it was a real treat to have the sole use of a living room to read, chat and watch TV in the evenings. We definitely would come back.

A fiendly B&B stay with Jane and John very keen to please. Spotless room and good breakfast. Nice views over the ornage orchard. Conveniently close to Tavira but well away from the hubbub.
It would be nice to rent the whole house with the family or friends next time.

We stayed at the Quinta Arruba after having been at a real "horror" B&B. It was a bliss (and would have been too, even if the previous stay hadn't been so bad). We even extended our stay by a couple of days. Jane and John were wonderful - they knew when to be accomodating and helpful and when to leave us be. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable: in short just perfect! The breakfast had a nice variety of sweet and savory things and homemade baking from Jane herself! The pool was the perfect way to end a hot day touring Portugal in peace. All in all the best experience we had (next to Lisboa) and we will definitely come back!

We booked our stay in Quinta based on other reviews from tripadvisor. It definately met our expectations:
- nice & cosy
- quiet & relaxing
- spacey, comfortable & clean rooms
Jane & John (+Chelsea) were great hosts. We felt like home. Everything at Quinta is of the highest standard and the location is nice as well - very secluded and rural but only a quick drive to Tavira, which is a lovely town.
I would definitely recommend this to anyone who looks for charming & quiet place in Tavira.

Note: you need a car!
