Good food but service is totally indifferent to customers. The steak on the stone required a tray to put the cooked steak but the reply was that "it is like that". We ordered rare, it came well done, and not even an apology. Customer is treated coldly as just a money provider. Never again!

Had a great night here, very clean and comfortable place. good menu fish, meat or chicken. nice service will go a again for sure. The suckling pig was great. The fish was so fresh just like it was in the sea that day, There is a good childs play area to and tables inside and out.

Only one of us had suckling pig. My cordon bleu was poor and my husbands steak on a stone was overcooked in a short time - we had to ask for a plate to take the meat off the stone.
What was really poor was the service. In fact I nearly did an about turn at the door as I felt we were an inconvenience. Football was on TV and more of a priority! At a cost of 130 euros for 5 it was overpriced for what we had.

While the speciality of Restaurante da Bairrada is Suckling Pig (and trust me, it is sublime) they also do excellent Black Pork or Monkfish Kebabs. We find the best time to go for Suckling Pig is lunchtime as it tends to be cooked in the morning and fresh from the oven. The Suckling Pig comes with home made potato crisps but you can ask for batatas fritas (chips) if you prefer. Quite a big place and only really gets really busy on a Sunday lunchtime where is is very popular with Portuguese families. Not tried the Stone Steak (a huge chunk of meat you cook yourself on a very hot stone) but it does look very good and is very popular as well. Well worth a trip!

This proved an reasonable choice for a Monday night- the worst night for fish, so a good one for meat, we reckoned. My wife had the suckling pig, which was gorgeous. Apparently the restaurant is noted for it. Another couple told us that a few nights later. I had steak on a stone. The steak was good, but I over-cooked it. Sack the chef. We also had wine, water, bread, some croquettes, cheese and olives. We paid €54.80, just over £40 at present rates of exchange. Very good. It was fairly quiet, so the reviewer who said that the place lacks a bit of atmosphere makes a decent point.
