“Lovely beach”
Reviewed 5 August 2014

Tavira Island has a lovely sandy beach and plenty of restaurants, but be warned, if you have the fish platter it WILL be expensive! Nice as it is, it is a bit of a tourist trap.

“Bored after 2 days”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

If all you want to do on your holiday is sunbathe then this is the place for you. We wanted more than that though and unfortunately Tavira just isn't up to the job. You can walk around the market place and the main streets in a couple of hours and the castle would take half an hour to look around, complete with someone's discarded jeans and some DIY stuff behind a locked gate built in the castle walls but then storage is storage. We tried the tourist centre but there were no leaflets out as you would expect and to be honest I'd lost the will to ask. Anyway, if you want to sit and watch the world go by and do nothing then this is the place but for us it was way too quiet and I like to have a mix of relaxing, shopping(local markets if possible) and some culture but sadly this place has none and you can cover it off in a day trip. Oh forgot though, there are some stalls set up in the evening selling paintings of donkeys......

“"Great day out"”
Reviewed 1 August 2014

Took the ferry from the centre of Tavira, lots of restaurants on the island with plenty of choices for food and drink. Nice sandy beach but there is a slimy, wispy sea weed as soon as you enter the sea I went in up to my waste and it didn't improve which was slightly disappointing it wasn't nice.

“So relaxed”
Reviewed 30 July 2014

Everything is relaxed and easy going on Tavira Island: from the boat trip to get there to the bars on the island. Nice sandy beaches, never too crowded.

“Peaceful & beautiful”
Reviewed 28 July 2014

Much like the nearby Terra Estreita and Barril Beaches, Tavira Island is among the best beaches in the Algarve. The water is pleasant and clean, and the sand is absolutely white. There is a camping site close-by, and you can go for long walks on the sand, as the beaches stretch for many kilometers.

If you are in Tavira or nearby, and enjoy going to the beach, then make sure you don't miss Tavira Island!
