As you approach the hotel, you are aware that you are entering a nature reserve, distinctly off the normal tourist path.

Built in a previous century, on a beautiful salt marsh peninsular. We called in to use the dive sites down river. The facilities in the bar, and around the hotel were extremely well thought out, excellent housekeeping, all contributing to a fabulous ambience.
Has an almost monastic air to the place - but not that laid back - honest.!!

The site consists of hotel, fabulous unspoilt grounds, with natural and paved paths. Bar, pool, etc. Dive shops, protected beaches, and quayside moorings.

We dived with some of the hotel guests, and they showed us their rooms, all finished and maintained to a very high standard.

I could definitely stay there a week or more. Shame we only stopped for the day, an outstanding place.

Room Tip: Well laid out site, so a little walking is involved crossing to the various facilities in the compound.

A superb hotel, with plenty of space to chill out and relax by the pool, or 30 metres to the beach, or scuba centre - or bike hire - or kayaking. On its own location in a nature reserve, with plenty of bird life e.g. flamingos and avocets. someone had said the beds were hard but we did not find them so. We chose this hotel as we have a mix of things we like to do - action (scuba and snorkelling), inaction (beach, sun, pool, bird watch etc.), mooching about (historic and interesting sites, interrupted by coffee and cake!). It was super for all these. The hotel was clean, comfortable, stylish - it was converted from an old tuna co-operative and there is a small museum about the history of it on site, plus a little (still working) church, and school - the school is used for the kids fun club. It is quiet, sited about 2.5km from the town of Tavira which is a historic town and well worth several visits. It has a lovely river, some fabulous churches, with ornate internal decoration some of the finest examples in Portugal. Visit the castle - and the various beautiful gardens. The Tavira museums are also definitely worth going to, some fabulous exhibitions. Food-wise, the hotel menu was excellent, you can eat the all inclusive buffet or eat a la carte - we chose a la carte the last few days (huge portions - one Portugese portion is enough for two people!). The hotel was 2.5km from the town centre, so you will need to ask the hotel to book a taxi, and ask in town for the taxi rank. We tried to call a taxi firm and it was not a success - we could not speak Portugese and whilst we had the words to order a taxi to and from, we did not understand what they were saying back to us! Plenty of places to eat in the town, and do try the local dishes - salted cod, and mixed fish soup - delicious! The people were friendly, and welcoming. This was our first time in Portugal, and we will definitely visit again - the mountains as well next time. We had wanted to hire a care and visit the nearby waterfall, but it had a fire last year and all the wooden walkways were destroyed, not possible to visit. Overall, a super holiday, and would certainly recommend the hotel and the town.

Room Tip: There are rooms that look to the sea, these have lovely views. Ask for a room not by the pool, but along from the scuba centre, these may be quieter as the ones around the pool are off a main corridoor which is very echoing (hard floor etc) and in the afternoon they have a fun pool exercise thing which is a bit noisy you want a siesta. All rooms are air conditioned.

A beautiful hotel, stunning location with very friendly, helpful staff. The hotel was clean, the rooms comfortable and clean. We had a little garden to sit in but we got so badly bitten we didn't use it, I would recommend a good insect repellent, that was the only negative thing about the whole holiday. The pool area is stunning loads of sun beds and parasols no reserving them needed by anyone, it was very quite at times round the pool but even when busy loads of space. The food was excellent we were all inclusive and we had variety something different each night. The trip on
the hotel boat to the island is well worth a visit the beach is beautiful.

we arrived with a bit of trepitation as an old fishing village but on arrival all disappeared the hotel complex reception area is quite nice and the route is back to nature through salt beds and open areas
We stayed in the converted fisher mens dewellings as the site is steaped in fishing tuna history from days gone by, the area is unique as to the land formation you look on to rivers or islands between you and the sea, so if beaches are you favor then the 3 euro boat trip from the jetty to the pier is not borring trip but quite a laugh if the bigger ferrys are berth at the same time.
But the beaches on the atlantic side is spectacular for all
The staff whether its the boat man or any staff in the hotel all so friendly and helpfull
Couple of points regarding some of the services offered the kids club is quite frankly the best yet great team organised with a daily plan for kids and adults we felt that our little girl was safe and could express her self with in the team games and the quite times in the escola house (school house) which was one of the original buildings from the fishing times also a church which are beautiful
We enjoyed the magic show as my partner was the choisen as the dummy enough said
Yes we would return for all above and more
Peter,Michelle and Danielle

Room Tip: Always ask for a river view as some rooms look internally to the site

Spent four days at this hotel built in a former Tuna fish factory. Spotlessly clean with friendly staff and located in a national Portuguese park. Food was not exciting - but we didn't expect or anticipate anything haute cuisine in a half board package and the food was fresh, appetising and there was plenty of it in a carvery style restaurant.

Plenty to do and a fabulous hotel pool to relax by when we'd had enough doing it.

Room Tip: Try and get one that backs onto the National Park rather than back to back with other rooms.
