We have recently returned from a 9 day stay at this apart hotel. I am very pleased to say it is one of the best holiday resorts I have been to. The apartments are spacious, extremely clean and the room we stayed in (316) had sunshine on the balcony from early morning until approx 2.30pm. We over looked the garden from our balcony where there are a number of beautiful birds to watch, (and a family of bats at night, if you like them) The staff were very friendly and helpful and the restaurant is second to none. We ate there 3 times and can honestly say the food is gorgeous, and very reasonable.
There were just a couple of niggles. The room had a terrible smell coming from the fridge, although the fridge was spotless and so we were confused as to where the smell came from. The big wall cupboard over the fridge was bottomless- which could have caused a problem, luckily I only tried putting a loaf of bread in there and not a glass jar, it looks as though that cupboard was put up to house a boiler of some sort, but is empty and has no bottom so beware!! Also the second flush on the toilet didn't work. Having mentioned the smell to the reception, they did offer to move us, however it was too small a problem for us to repack and so we chose not to.
The town of cabanas is very quiet and unspoilt by lucky lucky men etc. It is a very quiet little fishing village and is very relaxing and peaceful.
We would definitely return to both location and hotel.

Room Tip: If you want sun on the balcony choose the rooms over looking the gardens.

These apartments are located in the small fishing village of Cabanas near Tavira. They are situated a bit away from the beaten track, about 10 minutes walk from the main restaurants. The apartments are clean, well equipped with convection microwave, two rings and a fridge- plenty of crockery and pots. The pool is large and there are a couple of smaller pools for kids. I was pleased to see the water being tested a couple of times a day by the pool man. In addition,a bouncy castle - no charge was beside the pool area. There is a small gym, jacuzzi and sauna with a roof terrace for sunbathing. The hotel restaurant is basic but ok if you can't be bothered cooking or walking to one of the restaurants. I am glad we were not on half board. It is worth taking a trip to Tavira, it is lovely and costs about 10euros in a taxi from the apartments. We will definitely return

we went in late april and were probably a month early weather-wise as it was mostly sunny but very windy.
The apartments are excellent, large and with big balconies. we were overlooking the wetlands facing west and it was very nice in the evening - apart from said wind. The pool is huge and there is plenty of grass for the kids to play on. The on-site restaurant was very good - try the fried shrimp starter! apart from one miserable receptionist, the staff were helpful and friendly. On the downside, the walk into the resort / town of Cabanas is 15 minutes and not pleasant either as the road is pot-holed and most of the buildings are either run-down or closed it seemed. while 15 minutes may not seem a lot, twice a day? and sometimes carrying shopping means it's too much. The nearest supermarket (featured on the map provided) was hopeless, dark with empty shelves and a closing down atmosphere - I mean, no beer for three days? There's a smaller, much better one signed at the cross-roads outside the featured one and we went there. We hired a car after two days. The Marinas snack bar was great as was the takeaway opposite the Fishermens' huts. Thev fish soup at Jeronimo's was great too.

Room Tip: either overlooking the pool (faces south) or overlooking the wetlands (facing west).

We have just arrived back after spending 10 days here, 5 days of sunshine 5 days of rain. The appt was large & the cleaner was excellent, we looked out over the salinas & it was exceedingly quiet & restful..... that was when there weren't any kids running around & screaming inside. The hotel, as my husband said, looks a little like a prison when you come out of your room & look around, the hotel is a bit of an oval concrete shape & in the middle there is a kids area and their voices echo all around the place when they play inside. No afternoon siesta then!!!
It is in a very remote place with a long walk to anywhere, I suggest a car if you do not like to walk. Cabanas itself is lovely, with a boardwalk all along the front & some very nice places to eat cheaply, but it was very very quiet & I wouldn't suggest anywhere around here for children, but great for couples of all ages. We hired a car thank goodness & went to a large supermarket in Tavira to shop as the ones in Cabanas are pretty useless with many empty shelves & fridges.
Oh & by the way if you arrive after 12 midnight there is noone there to greet you, we thought we were going to have to sleep in the car as we had no idea what to do, the place was all locked up, not very good really. Pillows in room are awful like sleeping on cotton wool balls all of them so take your own if this matters.

Room Tip: Seriously it is remote hire a cari fyou want to see something of Portugal/Spain
