We stayed for just one night, splendid hotel, architectural marvellous restoration, spacious and clean room and surprise: as the lonely planet said the restaurant had upper class prices, we had a tasty lamb pie as a starter, sea bass as main course and a algarve pie as a dessert with a Douro white wine and bubbles with the "amuse gueules" for a 35 euro/pers and all that in a historical environment (bubbles were on the house due to my wife's birthday) Breakfast by contrast was somewhat less comparing to the Sagres poussada. Reception staff was outstanding.

Room Tip: There is some noise from the railway north of the hotel

This is a beautiful hotel in a beautiful town. Our room was lovely but the hotel staff were very slow and we had to keep asking for tea and coffee to be replenished in the room every day.
We went to the bar. No staff serving. We went to find someone who did pour us a drink but then disappeared. We had to find him again to order another one. We didn't drink there again.
The breakfast was nice but there were too few staff serving and there seemed to be a problem with spoons as every day we had to ask for one.
It is a lovely hotel but lacking staff and service.

This was an elegant hotel immaculately kept, with lots of space & WIFI too!
Very helpful friendly staff, who spoke very good English. The room was plenty big enough & the bed linen was of fine quality & we also had a balcony with a fine view, the whole place was very clean & stylish..
The first day we strolled around the town visited the small but excellent market, great olive wood spoons and leather belts. Then we made plans for the week, but the rain came down ferociously for hours, which put paid to our excursions The cobbles were very slippy so we stayed in to eat. which was a good thing as the food was delicious,& immaculately served. A great treat! Go when the weather is more settled, you will have a great time!

We wanted a chill out week and this hotel certainly filled the bill. The room, number 3, was spacious and the bed linen of fine quality. We ate in on two nights and the food was excellent. The staff are polite and extremely helpful. It is a very beautiful building, spacious and calm, the only annoying thing was the piped music, maybe classical would be more in keeping. Tavira is a beautiful town with lots of restaurants and we managed to find a Fado venue in the next village.

This was our fourth trip to Tavira (a beautiful city) and our first stay at the Pousada - we will never stay anywhere else on return visits!!
The most beautiful and peaceful building - right in the middle of the historic part of the city but as quiet as being in the country! It's an old convent and it still "feels" serene and relaxed and gentle somehow.
The only slight negative my husband could come up with (and it took him a while!) was no wifi in the rooms (fine in the public areas) but for me this is definitely a positive, so we will agree to disagree on that one!
wOULD HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS HOTEL TO ANYONE VISITING tAVIRA!!

Room Tip: we had a standard room (not the fancier ones) but it was lovely and overlooked the quiet cloisters s...

This was our second stay here and there were marked improvements. Staff were so friendly and helpful , rooms were great value and well appointed. Food was much better than the first time we stayed and I would happily recommend it. We found Jorges a particularly helpful waiter. Look out fot the Pousada special whichis great value eespecially as you can use a 20% voucher if you have purchased a Pousada Passport.
Really nice place.
