Only got to see the outside as they close at 1300 on saturday but still worth the visit. Would have been better if I got to go inside but was still worth the train ride from Faro. They do jave some old ruins just outside the wall that are accessable when the castle is closed.

A nice walk around the ruins and beautiful gardens. Unusually, you can access all parts of the ruins, as nothing is cordoned off. Our teenagers climbed up to the ramparts, but wouldn't recommend for younger children as the steps are e posed and steep.

But watch out for the steps up the wall... Very nerve racking with young kids as no safety equipment!

Views great though. We also got the little road train sight seeing from here.

This small castle with an inner garden provides good sightings of downtown Tavira. Good to take pictures of the town and its river.
