This was the best place to stay for our visit to Switzerland. We had nine people with ages from 80 to 9 years of age. We had the first floor of the apartment and the room right outside. This was perfect for the number of people we had The kitchen had everything we needed to make breakfast and dinner. Tthe space was big enough to fit us all comfortably. Angie was a wonderful manager helping us get the apartment when we could not located anything else. We had to change our schedule but were able to book six days for our stay there. The views were great from our balcony, the church bells were charming to hear and the waterfall was close. The city park was about one block so the kids could play and the waterfall was close for them to hike every night. The pub was a great place to escape to at night. The sky divers used the court yard to fold their parachutes and that was fun to watch. The location for daily excursions was ideal for what we planned to do while we were there. Overall I want to go back and stay there again!

Room Tip: The bath tub was hard for the older members of the family. The apartment on the bottom level was a...

This review is for the Horner Pub Apartment across from the Pub which is owned by the same people, but not as easy to find on the web. Our family of 2 adults and 2 kids spent the end of June 2013 in the top apartment (4th floor) which included the entire floor and had three bedrooms (two beds pushed together, and two rooms with two bunk beds in each room), a living room, and a fully equiped kitchen, as well as a bathroom. This place was trully a jem since we felt like we were at home, however, with amazing views of the famous falls of Lauterbrunnen. Check-in was easy, at the pub, and parking was included. This is the place to stay on a budget in an amazing place. Although it is at the end of town, you will have the best view of the falls. The apartment has two balconies on either side where you can rest and unwind at the end of the day. I would definitely stay here again. The only negatives, if you can call them that, is that the wifi connection is with the pub across the street so was difficult to have a continuous connection. My only other advice, if I was to return to the area again, would be to consider staying in Wengen, higher up from the valley and only reachable with the local train in the area (since they don't allow cars), since its views are of the valley which are a bit more dramatic. However, the pictures of the hotel and from the hotel are very accurate and stunning. Loved the place.

I guess we stayed at the Chalet, it was across the street from the pub and we had the whole bottom floor! It was really big for the two of us we had a living room (with cable and 2 couches), kitchen, bedroom and bathroom! More than we needed, but nice! It was definitely dated, like 70's IKEA but was clean so we didn't really care. Really nice being across from the Horner Pub, great place for food and beer! It was about a 10 min walk from the train station, a 2 minute walk to Staubbauh Falls and a 30 minute walk to Trummelbach Falls. Loved Lauterbrunnen!

We stayed 7 nights in the hotel which is located right on top of the pub. Not the apartment which was opposite the hotel.

Here we enjoyed one of the loveliest stay in our visit in Switzerland, Angie gave us a room which is facing the waterfall and the alps which was just wonderful, the hotel is not really meant for family but more for base jumpers so don't expect all kind of Hotel room services here... But Horner is still special in its own way and don't worry about the noise from the pub, it's much more quieter than what you are expecting it to be.

This hotel is a gathering place for base jumpers and you will see them packing their gears along the corridoor and don't be shy to speak to some of them to find out more about the sports if you are interested. We almost signed up for the course after speaking with one of them.

Definately a must to visit the pub and try Angie's cooking, she is a wonderful cook and the dishes does not lose to any of the local restaurent. We ate here like 3 or 4 nights during our 7 days stay and try going for the today's special, its is considered a very reasonably priced meal and of course for the great taste as well!!! I always hated macoroni and after tasting the beef sauce with macoroni... It was simply wonderful!! They don't appear in the menu every night somehow, so remember to grab it if it is on the Today's special!!!

My fellow travellers and i had just finished walking the beautiful and spectacular Lauterbrunnen Valley and were looking for a casual spot to have a nice cold beer and the Horner Pub ended up being the perfect spot. The staff appeared friendly and helpful. We sat on the deck and soaking up the sun and suds while enjoying the great views. We also saw some of the amazing base jumpers returning from the valley with their crumpled up parachutes.
As an aside we saw these jumpers landing on our walk after their parachutes opened but never appreciated what they had just done until i went onto Youtube. It is well worth taking a look, you will be amazed.

The Horner Pub has some of the best meals in Lauterbrunnen, very reasonably priced. Angie is a great cook. Meals include, salad, chicken or pork with herb butter (mmmm) and roasted potatoes.
This is a great place to unwind after hiking all day. Frequainted by base jumpers, we meet some very interesting people and learned a lot abou the sport base jumping.V

Let me start off by saying I believe there is some confusion - this review is regarding CHALET Horner, which is where we stayed, run by Teresa Steiger. It looks as though some others have also reviewed Chalet Horner here - not to be confused with Hotel Horner, which is the one with the pub attached. They are just down the street from one another... easy to do, as there is only one street in Lauterbrunnen and it is small...

No matter where you stay in Lauterbrunnen it is doubtful you'll be disappointed, because the valley itself is so gorgeous. At Chalet Horner, however, you also have a wonderful large balcony from which to enjoy said view to it's fullest. And it is truly awe-inspiring.

The rooms themselves at Chalet Horner are comfortable and, for the price (for Switzerland), well-appointed. They're clean, well-maintained, and have pretty much all the amenities. There is a kitchenette in every room, so you are able to make your own meals, which saved us time and money. Teresa was accommodating to our schedule and we were able to reserve just a few days, which was all we had. We hope to go back for longer. It is very close to everything, no need for a car, the train station is a five minute walk away. We were very happy with everything overall.

That being said, this is not a B&B, but apartments you rent, rather than a hotel with service 24 hours and breakfast made for you in the morning. This was fine for us, but some may prefer the type of service you would get at Hotel Horner, which we also checked out while we were there. Since the pub's sign declared "The best pub in town because we're the ONLY pub in town!" we just had to go in and try it out. We enjoyed it immensely and it seemed like it would have also been a good place to stay. However, I didn't notice the same type of balconies on it as we had at Chalet Horner, which in my book made all the difference. To sit out on that balcony and eat our breakfast in the morning, or our pizza at night, or coffee in the afternoon - it was a never-ending show was you could see four waterfalls including the closest one, which is an easy walk and climb up to the bottom of it.

While the Chalet itself is very nice, I wouldn't normally rate this place with 5 stars based on the rooms themselves, which were nice, but small and somewhat dated. However, the balcony and views out every window, as well as the cleanliness and comfort of the furnishings, more than made up for that, and for that balcony and view alone I'd give it five stars. But the dated-ness of the rooms took it back a bit for me, so I can't give it a full five stars especially based on other experiences I've had elsewhere. Though the price was good especially by Swiss standards, and as I said, Teresa was a gracious hostess. If (and when) we return to Lauterbrunnen, we will definitely stay here again, and will recommend it highly to our friends.

For information about Chalet Horner (not Hotel Horner) look it up on HomeAway.com, as I can't seem to find it here on TripAdvisor.
