The Trummelbach Falls are a set of 10 waterfalls inside a mountain. Be prepared to climb lots of steps and also to get very wet from the spray from some of the viewing points. Although there is a lift inside the mountain that you can take to start the experience, you then walk a lot of steps to see the different falls which are an absolutely incredible site to behold. Truly magnificent. This was my third trip to these falls and I have enjoyed seeing them and being awed by the power of nature each time.

We visited the Trummelbach Falls after spending a weekend in beautiful Wengen and hearing stories of the falls from someone in our hotel. It is very easy to reach by simply taking the local PostBus service from Lauterbrunnen railway station direct to the falls, door to door. If you are visiting Interlaken you can also easily visit the falls by taking the train from Interlaken Ost up to Lauterbrunnen and then catch the Post Bus as described before.

Cost of entry to falls is CHF11.00 per person which includes the mountain lift journey.

The falls are amazing to see and we felt it was even more amazing to experience the roar of the ice cold glacial water as it cascades down through the rock on its journey from the Eiger, Monch and Jungfrau mountain peaks and glaciers above to the valley floor stream below.

I would suggest that you take the funicular lift to go up inside the mountain and the steps down so you can see the lower part of the falls as they tumble to the valley floor. If you are not too good on your feet or have young children you could choose to take the lift in both directions.

People have commented about the cost of entry - CHF 11 per head is a little pricey but Switzerland is an expensive country and there is a lot of upkeep to be paid for I guess.
The entry price for children is CHF 4.00 per head. This attraction is popular so it can get crowded at times when a tour bus is in the area but we found it fine when we visited on Sunday.

There's so much more to see and enjoy in the region without this relatively steep admission fee. Sort of place that's popular with tour groups/buses, and indeed there were plenty. Crowded.

Didn't know what to expect when a friend recommended these falls. It's totally worth the visit. The drive upto the falls is amazing, going through the lovely valley, past the little huts, past the little railroad alongisde the stream fed by the falls, through the little touristy restaurants, and seeing the Alps all around you. Even if the waterfalls had been disappointing (which they weren't), the visit would have been well worth it just for the view. The waterfalls themselves were amazing. Showed the wonder of nature with the water cascading inside the mountain. There are several viewing points for different levels, but the biggest viewing point is the one where the cable car lets you out. Like a lot of sights in this part of Europe, there is no wheelchair access. The walk itself is not bad. You can get a sort of cable car to go part of the way up or you can just walk up. Very nice view of the mountainsides as you walk down - even saw a couple of paragliders. Since this is not a destination as famous as Jungfrauhoch (which is somewhat in the vicinity), crowds are not a problem, and it's also not as expensive.
