Stayed at the Esplanade Hotel so we had ample opportunities to walk/stroll through this lovely park area. There are numerous things to do and the adjacent boat harbour precinct with all its attractions is within a minute's walk. Shaded by huge trees this is an ideal spot for picnics. The Ferris wheel and children's playground provide an ideal spot for a relaxed family outing and in our time in Fremantle many people were taking advantage of the great weather and the available facilities.

My family visited the Fremantle Esplanade located at Marine Terrace in Dec 2013.

Fremantle Esplanade Reserve serves as a transit point between the Fremantle City and the Boat Harbour. The Esplanade covered with matured Giant Pine Trees is very shady. Facility wise, there are some Children Playgrounds, an Observation Wheel, some Benches and a Café for those who need refreshments. The turf at the Esplanade is not growing well due to the shade from the Giant Pine Trees. There weren’t many people using the park during my day of visit except for some families with Children playing at the Playground. However, there were heavy flows of human traffic passing through the Esplanade during Lunch Hour to get across from Fremantle City to the Seafood Restaurants at the Boat Harbour.

Fremantle Esplanade is a good resting place for those whom are tired after covering Fremantle City on foot but as an Attraction there isn’t much to offer.

My husband had a job to do in Fremantle hospital so my daughter and I tagged along.
I thought we would walk to the roundhouse in time to see the cannon blast at 1pm, whilst walking we went past the Little Creatures brewery...they have all the different ingredients that go into making beer on display so we went in and had a look around. The staff are very friendly and informative. One asked if we were in to borrow some bikes, we weren't but we were interested!
So we borrowed some great bikes and took off along the foreshore. We rode to the ligthouse and then to the roundhouse. What a lovely way to see Freo.
You need some id to borrow the bikes.
We then joined up with my husband and tried some of the samples at the brewery :-)
Then we went over to the park on the foreshore and our daughter enjoyed the playground.
If you want to ride to the markets make sure you come on Fri, Sat or Sun. (We gotto pat a koala whilst we were there).

Heaps of things to do besides lots of seafood restaurants, there's the Shipwreck Galleries, Fremantle Prison and my favourite market: Fremantle Market.

"Esplanade" sort of says 'great location' but at Fremantle the Esplanade Park offers something for everyone. One street back from the fishing boat harbour, the park is pretty well protected - even when "The Doctor" blows!!

Kids are catered for with a great climbing maze and an enclosed ferris wheel. Little Creatures is just across the road for Mum and Dad and it's flat, so Ma and Pa enjoy easy access. Eating options are plenty, but for self caterers the parkland is well cared for and would make a great picnic venue.

When in Fremantle, head to the Fremantle Esplanade for location plus!!
