“Where has the crowds gone?”
Reviewed 19 July 2013 via mobile

Has this place recently changed hands? There used to always be a line out the front waiting to get in. We had a party of five and aalked straight in. Saw a number of vacant tables. The menu looks like it has been reduced . Cutlery is held in a container on the table ( not enough for all of us ). The dishes were still quite large and good. Service ok. Price reasonable.

“Great food, good service & great price”
Reviewed 24 June 2013

We went there for dinner after the footy on Saturday. The delightful Franco was our waiter who was playful, attentive to us.

Something I particularly like is entrée size for main course. I find that the main course size is usually too big. The pasta's we ordered was just right in quantity, piping hot and tasty. Have to say I couldn't eat all mine though. Not for the want of trying though. We saw people eating pizza's and they were large as I remember pizza's used to be.

The menu was pretty good with pizza, pasta and some meaty mains. It's not extensive but plenty to choose from. It's been in Fremantle for years and whilst other places have come and gone PBR is still serving great food on the cappuccino strip.

$30 per head for a meal, wine and coffee - tough to beat.

“You can't be serious - Five Star Prices for Two Star Food and Half Star Service?”
Reviewed 8 May 2013

What happened to the endless queues outside of this restaurant? How is it possible that a family of four can stroll in without waiting outside on (albeit early) on a Saturday night? The answer is simple - people have caught on to what Pizza Bella Roma (let's call it PBR for now on) is dishing up. In the age where Jamie Oliver comes to Perth and can serve up high quality hand made pasta meals for about $20 you'd think you'd want to be on your game if you owned an Italian restaurant but no, not PBR. Walking in we were showed to a table for four where we waited..and waited.. and waited for menus. At least that's what they called to bits of folded paper barely held together that outlined what was on offer. What was on offer is quite a wide range of over priced pizzas (not wood-fired) and pasta (not fresh but out of the packet) and the mains are about $25-30. Again we waited (asked and waved) to order. We waited (asked and waved) for cutlery. We waited (asked, waved, hollered) for water and glasses. We waited and waited and waited for our meals only to be told that there was a problem with the printer and they had no idea when (if?) our food was coming. When it did come, it was, well OK. It was not worth the prices we paid which were equivalent to that for pasta served in some of Perth's better places (e.g. Bar One) and outright highway robbery compared to Jamies. Hey, while you have your wallet out let's also charge you corkage for the service you didn't receive - huh?. So if you've been wandering past PBR on a night out in Fremantle and have wondered why you're not being forced to walk into traffic to get around the queue to get in. The mystery is solved - PBR has simply given up on the quality side of things and is focused on quantity - quantity of people coming in and quantity of cash being collected.

“Its still there for a reason!”
Reviewed 1 May 2013

Always popular and has stood the test of time. The food is great, the value for money is great and the atmosphere is always good. There food speaks for itself, it is one of the oldies but the goodies. I would recommend to anyone travelling in Fremantle as the locals already well and truly know about it.

“A place to be for good food, service and ambience.”
Reviewed 22 April 2013 via mobile

We came here for dinner - out first time. We were immediately showed our table by an attentive waitress.

We selected our food - shown on our photo - salads, fish plata and ravioli. Food came quickly. The serving size was adequate and beautifully served.

The salad was delicious, as were the other two orders.

We had more than enough of our food. Love the food and the service. It is perhaps the best restaurant along Freo near the markets.

Must try!!!.
