Unfortunately we had a journey over the hills which should have been beautiful, but there was low cloud and rain the whole way. Akaroa had been recommended to us as a beautiful, French enclave in New Zealand.....it certainly wasn't Alaroa's fault that it was raining, but it did colour our view of things.
We ate in the town, which is a walk downhill (and obviously uphill on the way back), so can't comment on the kitchen facilities. The washrooms clean clean and practical.
The only drawback for us is that there was a noisy party of young lads staying there, and this was the only campsite in 12 weeks of travelling where we disturbed at night. Maybe if a large group check in a little reminder from the managers could remind them about being quiet at night.
We'd love to return one day in good weather, and quiet at night.
