“Simply wonderful”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2013

Wished we had been able to stay longer than one night. The place is delightful with wonderful views particularly in the morning when the thin clouds are creeping over the mountains. Jane is a pleasure and a particular memory is the freshly made marmalade. The furnishings are superb. The lounge is large and the patio area very nice. The bedroom and adjacent bathroom are lovely. Akaroa is such a nice quiet place. A must place to visit is the Giant's House to see the garden with its mosaic statues etc.

Jane is a lovely lady, and a great cook! We stayed here and loved everything. A very comfortable room, a stunningly beautiful view, the food, the chickens and the area. This is so much better than an impersonal hotel. We want to go back!

Room Tip: any room is great!

L’abri is situated on the outskirts of Akaroa in the most idyllic spot imaginable.
We were welcomed by our host Jane who had spared no effort to make us feel comfortable and at home.
Beautifully furnished, the B&B offers a calm, romantic and laid-back holiday feel. Special touches in our room included fresh flowers, chocolates, and a tempting menu for the following morning’s breakfast.
While sipping our drinks on the deck, we lapped up the tranquil view of the surrounding hillside and Akaroa Harbour. It was quite difficult to drag ourselves away to take advantage of all the region has to offer.
There is actually heaps to do and we would really recommend staying for at least a couple of days.
Thank-you Jane. We were sorry we could not stay longer and look forward to visiting you again.

We have just had three nights at L Abri and would heartily recommend it. Jane is a really charming host with a wonderful property. The view from the deck is magnificent and the rooms are beautifully appointed and just so comfortable. Excellent breakfasts completed a great stay. A must for any future NZ trip

An absolute gem of a place to stay. Superb views, lovely rooms with a very gracious host. Jane made the four of us feel very welcome and provided superb breakfasts both mornings of our stay. This was my first visit to Akaroa, having lived in New Zealand for over 50 years but will certainly not be my last. We would stay at L'Abri again and recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful and peaceful place to stay in Akaroa.

We spent two gorgeous nights at L'abri just outside of Akoroa. From the stunning views on arrival, to the gorgeous rooms with lots of thoughtful small touches to te delicious eggs provencal for breakfast - everything about our stay was a delight.

Akoroa is also a great town. A charming place outside of Christchurch - our 2 nights was just the perfect length to visit.

Wonderful stay with a wonderful host! Exceeded my expectations, which were already high after reading prior reviews... relaxed in comfort before doing Wanaka Ironman and was wishing I could head straight back!!! Only issue was not being personally able to enjoy eggs on the sumptuous breakfast menu, but was extremely catered for, nonetheless.
Recommended in the very highest terms(!)

Room Tip: Just ask for the hosts recommendations, and take it!
