Akaroa is a delight: the harbour, the cruise ships, the cafes and we would add L'Abris made our Akaroa experience even better.

With fellow L'Abris guests from Switzerland and Australia we experienced an international breakfast, an enriching experience.

We thank our thoughtful and knowledgeable hostess.

What a beautiful place to stay, stunning views, warm welcome, there is nothing you could ask for better than this gorgeous setting. We absolutely loved spending a night here, the owner Jane was just the best and made us feel so welcome it was incredible.Cooked breakfast was fantastic and the cookies in your room were to die for, wow ate the whole lot, could not stop.Children loved the chooks as well as Jan hospitality. Cannot wait to come back.Thank you so much Jane. You are the best. Sean & Sharron.

Room Tip: Easy, book here if staying in Akaroa, you will be suitably impressed.

The ambiance of this B&B is top notch and Akaroa is a delightful town to visit. L'Abri has a view that I never tired of and it was lovely to walk around the garden. So peaceful and relaxing. Jane directed us to a top notch restaurant , The Little Bistro, for dinner. Although Jane was not able to be there for breakfast, a friend who worked in her absence provided us with a very nice cooked breakfast. Although we had our own bathroom it was not en suite since Jane's bedroom also opened onto the same corridor we needed to use to get to the bathroom. The only thing marring our visit was several roosters nearby crowing from 5 AM on. As mentioned by others, there are no window screens but this seems to be the norm in NZ. However, everything else was so lovely that I would gladly return for another visit.

Room Tip: Both rooms are lovely. Ask Jane which she recommends if privacy is a concern.

We were not made to feel particularly welcome, even allowing for an apparent 'miscommunication' through owner's friend. Poor quality finish on the cottage build including no fly screens (despite several complaints in the guest book), made it unpleasant having to close doors and windows on hot evening to avoid mosquitos. Self serve breakfast food - rated as average only. Felt we paid high price for very average stay.

My wife and I travelled round New Zealand for about a month and this was one of the nicest places we stopped in. The owner, a delightful lady called Jane and her partner Richard, made us so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them. We chose to stop in the cottage in the garden which was a real gem (it was covered in flowers and plants, and caught the afternoon sunshine) and it was totally self sufficient and provided us with a 'retreat' and a chance for us to relax. We loved it so much we stopped an extra night!

We have pledged to return to NZ again in the next few years and Akaroa and L'abri will be at the top of our list!

Slighlty on the pricier side of akaroa, just about 10 mins away from Akaroa main town. Booked 2 B&B rooms and the host Jane was friendly, helpful and a great cook. Let us be. 2 to 3 cats around -one stray one! Rooms were clean and there are toilets for each room, just located outside each room. Amazing sunset views and rooms are adequately warm.

Wished we had been able to stay longer than one night. The place is delightful with wonderful views particularly in the morning when the thin clouds are creeping over the mountains. Jane is a pleasure and a particular memory is the freshly made marmalade. The furnishings are superb. The lounge is large and the patio area very nice. The bedroom and adjacent bathroom are lovely. Akaroa is such a nice quiet place. A must place to visit is the Giant's House to see the garden with its mosaic statues etc.
