We had an amazing meal on a busy Saturday night. The service was attentive and helpful. Recommendations were made and all questions were answered with ease and the staff definitely knew their stuff. We started with homemade olive foccacia - delicious, straight from the oven and melted in the mouth. For entree we had the Beef carpaccio and the Terrine. The Terrine plating was masterful and the combination of the artichoke on the carpaccio was delicious.
Mains - Duck a' l'Orange - a modern twist with rhubarb - a perfect match, and the standout of the night the Lamb Loin - the plate looked too pretty to disturb when it arrived. Endless glorious flavors and textures. Both were shared and cleaned up.
Dessert - my beloved had the brûlée and he stated that it was amongst the best things he has ever eaten, paired with black boy peach sorbet. Glorious. A full wine list with options by the glass to match each course.

We like to eat early and the Trading Rooms booked us in at 5.30pm with ease, this is not something we usually find and not only was this accommodated but the restaurant was ready to go. We would definitely go back.

1st time at the Trading room for dinner and will be back. The food had well balanced flavour respecting the basics of cooking, i would say the most mediterranean cuisine in Akaroa so far. The waiting staff was attentive too, a bit of wait between the main and the dessert, well, seeing the size of the dessert that wasn't a problem and going to restaurant is just a relaxing time.
Thank you (from a french chef)

lovely warm environment and great food. Between us we had the beef pie, the seafood pasta special and the club sandwich and thoroughly enjoyed it all. Highly recommended.

Our service was very slow due to being understaffed on a winter's weekend lunchday, and the food was pricey. Although probably average by Akaroa standards. It was very good if a bit small portions for the price. The atmosphere was attractive, despite having a lot of corporate branding. Could have been a bit warmer, but was warm-ish by NZ standards.

Went to Akaroa on a cold winters day and decided on lunch at The Trading Rooms after reading the menu by god door. We definitely made the right decision. They were very busy, which meant we had a bit of a wait, but if was worth it. The breads and dips starter was tasty with plenty to go around, the ribeye was cooked to perfection, as was the seafood pappardelle. Kids meals were very good value and the atmosphere was cosy and inviting. Would return and recommend.
