Owner description: Leicester and Liana have decided to retire and close Waterways boating safaris. We would like to thank everyone who has enjoyed a day out on the water with us. We especially would like to thank all of those who gave us such great reviews over the last 15 years. We thank TripAdvisor as without this website, our business could never have been so successful. “Best trip in South Island New Zealand!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2010

Because we were on a Holland America cruise, we had only one day to try to see as much of the Marlbourough Sound as possible. This excursion surpassed all our expectations. We were picked up promptly at the dock and taken to our starting point on the beautiful sound by Mrs. Bull and met Mr. Leicester Bull and our own personal little motorboat! After some instuctions and safety tips, we headed off into the sparkling blue water to explore the spectacular sound. It was a glorious day and we saw so much of the area. We had a picnic lunch on a little beach, hiked through the forest a short way and got to see the local flora. We saw penguins swimming in the sound. It was just wonderful. And when we got back, Mr. Bull gave us a CD with the pictures of us that he had taken on the trip. Mrs. Bull got us back to the boat in plenty of time, and we boarded the Volendam feeling like we had really gotten to see and experience the beautiful sounds of South Island. This was really the best excursion ever.

“Forget ferries and kayacks, this is the way to see Marlborough Sound”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 24 February 2010

Not sure on how best to see the Sound, Waterways Boating was suggested to us. And a great recommendation it was.
Whizzing about in specially designed tinnies was so much fun and the most amazing way to experience Marlborough Sounds. You can see the look on a kayaker's face as you go by, wishing that they had chosen to do it 'that way'.
The waters are beautiful and we were lucky enough to be taken to our own private beach for a swim.
Leicester (the owner & guide) was just lovely. He went out of his way to make sure we had the best time. I was most surprised and delighted when he took video and photographs of us, then dropped them on to disk on our return.
I would recommend taking a trip out with Leicester to anyone.
Thanks Leicester!

“Wonderfull way to experience the beautiful Marlborough Sounds”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 January 2010

What a great day out. Took daughter and son-in-law on the trip for her birthday. Well maintained vessels, good equipment and tuition. No sea faring experience needed. Beautiful Scenery, very informative visit to a Mussel Farm and enjoyable short trek into the bush. Thought it was well priced and a great adventure for all age groups. Leicester, the guide/owner, took photographs all day and was kind enough to print them off and give free copies to the whole party. Thanks for a great memory Leicester.

“What a great day out”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 December 2009

From the moment we were picked up to the time we were dropped off ( at the door of our campervan ! ) we had a wonderful day, out on the water and in the surrounding forest. Driving the boat was great fun - especially when it got choppy and all the information given by the guide made this a memorable day. I would recommend this ( and I have ) to everyone. Go for whole day option,
