Kippilaw is a fabulous house with beautiful grounds, with wonderfully eccentric owners Margaret and Bill, who make everyone welcome. Margaret's food is to die for,it is comfort food with a stylish twist,I first experienced at her food delights at her Gourmet stall at FARMERS MARKET on Sundays at the A&P show grounds.
The guest rooms at Kippilaw are quiet and clean very well appointed.Everything about Kippilaw exudes old-world charm and manners I would honestly recommend Kippilaw to anyone, who wishes to have a unique experience with true southern hospitality.

Room Tip: Both the downstairs rooms are excellent, both are quiet,I personally prefer the room on theright-hand...

We are an over-the-hill couple from Wellington and needed a quiet, private weekend away. The result of this request to Kippilaw House was a relaxing stay with just enough attention from Margaret, Bill and co. We stayed in the Picton View suite which was very spacious and private, fulfilling all our needs. The food was fabulous, shared with a young couple who we got along very well with. Our last night was on our own with a fabulous evening meal in the dining area - very romantic and quite elegant. This was a very personal experience with the level of attention we required. I came away with cuts of marjoram and oregano from Margaret which are thriving in my little pot garden in Wellington.

Hi there,

I had my wedding reception at Kippilaw House last week. The owners Margaret and Bill were fantastic and so incredibily accomodating. They catered for our 17 wedding guests and the food was to die for. We also stayed one night. The rooms are beautifully decorated and we thoroughly enjoyed our stay. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Room Tip: The room at the front is a little noisy during the day, but was very quiet in the evening.

Yours was the first wedding we have had the reception in our Lounge/dining room. Sitting down with 15 of your guests and family eating off your selected a la carte menu went very smoothly.
Lovely happy guest, having a great time with the bride and groom what more does one want hosting a wedding breakfast.
We wish you a long happy marrage with lots of laughter and cheer.

We had only one night here but wish it had been more! Margaret and Bill were superb hosts and welcomed us to their beautiful home with open arms. We stayed in the Picton View Suite, giving us a large double bedroom, huge shower room and a delightful sitting room. Everywhere was immaculate and met all our needs. Margaret prepared an amazing breakfast for us, unique and delicious - Tim reckons his best EVER! Nothing was too much trouble and Margaret drove us to the station for the next stage of our travels. If we are in the area again we would definitely go back - and hopefully for longer and include one of the amazing dinners that Margaret prepares - ask to see a sample menu!

We enjoyed hosting you both at Kippilaw House.
It sounded like you had an excellent time in the Marlborough Sounds which is a very under promoted haven for all to enjoy.
We love meeting and hosting guests who are delighted to be where they are at that moment. Bill and I wish you all the very best over the festive season with your families and may 2013 be the best for you all.

We welcome your return in the future when you come to visit your lovely daughter in Wellington call by for tea if passing.

Our two night stay at Kippilaw House was great. Margaret and Bill were fabulous hosts, going out of their way to make our stay a wonderful experience in their beautiful home. The rooms were immaculate, the food divine and would love to stay with them again soon. Margaret also runs cooking classes so if you can fit one into your stay would highly recommend you do! We stayed at Kippilaw House before and after walking the Queen Charlotte Track, and we are so glad we did! Margaret and Bill are the perfect hosts. Their house is immaculately clean and exceptionally comfortable. They were both very obliging and helpful. Bill met us at Picton airport upon our arrival and transported us to and from the water taxi. We enjoyed a bountiful 4-course meal with wine on our first evening. Margaret's cooking is devine, and she enjoys sharing her love of food and cooking tips. The breakfasts were delicious, and Margaret packed us a fantastic lunch to take out for our first day on the Track. We highly recommended Kippilaw House to anyone visiting Picton.
