We recently walked the Queen Charlotte track with a large group of friends.
We thoroughly enjoyed staying at Portage. There was a small glitch with our accommodation when we arrived but it was sorted quickly and we were very happy with our room. The restaurants and meals were wonderful, beautiful food and presentation and top marks for one of the best continental breakfasts we have ever had.
Accommodation at Portage was far superior to any other accommodation we stayed at, the staff were friendly and helpful and always available. Being part of a very large group didn't seem a problem to the staff at all.
Many thanks for an enjoyable stay, would not hesitate to stay here again.

Room Tip: Rooms on higher levels had views to die for, with great little balconies to enjoy them from.

Dear Ingrid T,

Thank you very much for taking the time to share your experiences at Peppers Portage with us here. It was a pleasure to host you and your group here and we are very glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay and the food that our kitchen team is so proud of. We are very aware that a good healthy breakfast is important for a long day of walking and also the lunch packs that we are providing. Peppers Portage is a perfect retreat for larger groups because of it's location and the variety of the room types.

Many thanks again and we look forward to welcoming all of you again soon.

I recently returned from a three day mountain bike trip on Queen Charlotte Track, I spent two nights at this hotel and was supprised with the services offered and the friendliness of the staff. They offer two dining options formal and casual and the staff are very knowledgeable about the track that I was doing and arranged all the necessary transfers and pickups for me with a local water taxi company anfd the hotels own bus for road connections. In fact half way through I had a gear malfunction and they arranged spare parts from Picton for me overnight so I could complete my mission. The location of the hotel is stunning in a small bay on the Kenepuru Sound with stunning water views the grounds are well landscaped the property is clean and and the offerings of food and beverage are excellent. Overall a great hotel for stopovers on the track or even just for a relaxing retreat. I'm looking forward to a return visit next year to complete the whole track.

Kia Ora OutdoorAdventures_70,

Thank you for your feedback on your stay at Peppers Portage. I am particullarly glad to hear that we could help you to fix your bike so that you were able to complete the whole Queen Charlotte Track. We have gained a lot of knowledge about Mountain biking and have specialised equipment now on-site to cater for these eventualities. We are also very fortunate to have the support of local businesses and transport to help all our guests should they need help quickly and over night.

We are indeed looking forward to welcoming you back with your friends next year.

We have just returned from tramping the Queen Charlotte Track, staying in a variety of accommodation along the way. Portage Hotel was the best accommodation of our trip by far. Nothing seemed too much trouble for any of the staff and the decor and furnishings made you feel spoilt! We also spent a day resting at Portage before tramping on to Anakiwa, and spent a glorious whole day mostly on the front deck resting with our friends, and enjoying the view and the coffee. Food was also very good, and as we spent 2 nights here we got to eat from 2 different menus, as there are 2 restarants. Excellent breakfast ensured we were well fed before the long tramp ahead. Thanks to all the staff for making our holiday so special.

Room Tip: Rooms upstairs have a superior view and are quieter as there is no one above you.

Spent two nights and the accommodation, Surroundings and service were superb. Would gladly have stayed longer except that the Queen Charlotte Track kept calling! Good food and excellent breakfast (a must for travelling the track). Thanks to the staff for making this a very memorable occasion.

Room Tip: Choose a room that is on a top floor rather than underneath as there can be some noise as people walk around overhead.

What a wonderful welcome we received when we came off the walk from Punga Cove to the Peppers Portage Resort. The female receptionist and female staff in the dining room were friendly and helpful. Sure the accommodation might need a bit of tweaking here and there but we had a great room. There could be some smaller, healthy food choices in the café but the food in the dining room was superb. A great location and just a shame that it wasn't warm enough to swim in the sea or the pool on our rest day but other activities were available in the lounge next to the dining room.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a view looking out over the sea.
