“Great apart from one thing...”
Reviewed 16 July 2014

Very interesting. Got up close looks at many sea creatures and an interactive tour from host. Touching pool was great for the kids. The only downside was that the host talked a lot about how much he liked to kill & eat the fish. I would rather enjoy them alive than imagine them being killed.

“Fantastic little place to visit”
Reviewed 11 July 2014

At first, I thought it was very expensive, but we were given our receipt and told we could come back anytime for free for the next week. I also don't mind paying more since the aquarium does a lot of conservation work. The displays were good, but the best part was the feedings and talk. Patting a tuatara, seeing a giant weta close up, and learning more about the animals was great! I loved the fussy stingray! Well worth a visit.

“POOR POOR ANIMALS PLEASE DONT GO TO THIS PLACE”
Reviewed 16 June 2014

We Went to this place because We Wanted to see some horses sea and We like to visit the aquarium When We are in a city We dont know. This place is the most horrible aquarium We have seen, the animals looks so sad, and they definetelly lacks of space. I remember this 2 beautiful birds, in a tiny cage, they could barely fly. And this little frog, her cage Was full of DEAD flyes everyWhere.... All the aquariums and cages are durty, and they are only 2 baby sharks, you can barely seen them, and about the horses sea, there are only one. No pinguins. Its not big, you paid 22 dollars but it does not worth it !!!We Were really shocked to see how these animals are treated, they live on a dirty and small place. At the end We told the boss about the cleaness and about the deads flyes and he just told "really its durty ? About the dead flyes you know the frog doesnt eat too much so they died". Dont do the same mistake that us, dont go to this place, and spend your 22 dollars to have a dinner in front of the sea :)

Hi

We were shocked to receive your feedback. We have never seen such in the more than 12 years that EcoWorld has been open.

We note that you also placed the same feedback under another name on our Facebook page.

We appreciate that everyone is entitled to their own opinion but we do wish to put the record straight.

Animal welfare is our first concern and responsibility. All our animals are held under a range of permits and regulations and we are proud that we always exceed any minimum requirements by substantial margins. A number of our animals have been at EcoWorld since 2002.

We remember your visit and we disagree that any of our staff said what you claim they said to you.

Our staff are all guides and educators and are university qualified scientists who take great pride in their work and the welfare of the animals is foremost for them.

As Marlborough's most visited paid for visitor attraction we know from the personal feedbacks and from the many positive comments in our visitors books that we deliver great value for money.

We strive to give our visitors outstanding, unique learning experiences.

NB. We would be plead to refund your admission or donate the sum to the SPCA in Marlborough.

“Nice little aquarium”
Reviewed 3 June 2014

Our ferry was delayed, so we had time for a visit to the aquarium. We were a little surprised at the price, given that last time we went many years ago, there were only fish tanks. But now that the focus is on conservation, particularly of tuatara, the price was understandable. We love the touch tank and being able to touch the tuatara. And Mr 6 enjoyed seeing the giant squid and baby seahorses. No penguins onsite on the day of our visit. Best to visit during one of the presentations.

“Very pleasant experience.”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

Our cruise ship stopped in picton, and we walked along the water front and came across the aquarium.
The guy at the front desk was very helpful, and we just made it to a tour that just started, they fed the turtles, and feed the penguins.
The tour guy was very enthusiastic you could tell that he loved what he did.
After we finished we left the aquarium, and the front desk guy caught us on the way out, and gave us a map, and information about picton. We really enjoyed it.
We did not care about the price, i think it was 22$ I kind of like the idea that the money is going to a better place, as they do take in injured animals, and also teach the community about the animals they have.
Really enjoyed it..
Great for kids, and for the ones that like that kind of thing.
