Enjoy the sights and sounds of the area with seemingly endless bays and coves to explore and different scenery around each corner. Visit a Salmon farm and a Oyster farm and learn about marine farming followed by a fabulous tasting of Salmon and Oysters.

I heard about the Seafood Odyssea Cruise while researching on a holiday to the Marlborough region. The same company that runs the very popular Greenshell mussel cruise from Havelock recently added a new cruise that leaves from Picton and travels through Queen Charlotte Sound, and with more seafood for tasting on board! I booked this cruise for 2 people 1 month prior to departure, and the cruise went ahead with just the 2 of us and 3 crew members in a modern catamaran. The captain John was very friendly and informative. We visited a king salmon farm, chased a group of dolphins, learnt how the Greenshell mussels are grown and farmed, and for afternoon tea, enjoyed a bottle of Sauvignon Blanc with Tio point oysters, smoked salmon and a massive bowl of steamed mussels with your choice of tabasco, sweet chilli sauce or soy and wasabi sauce. Everything was so fresh and delicious, especially the oysters, one of the best I have ever tasted. If you love seafood and are looking for a cruise, do not hesitate and book this - you will not be disappointed.

We went out to the Marlborough Sounds on a lovely catamaran. The captain and commentator was so interesting and knowledgable. We visited a green tipped mussel farm and tasted the freshly steamed mussels along with some oysters and smoked salmon, all washed down with a glass of Sauvignon Blanc! Then onto a salmon farm to feed the salmon and learn more about the the beautiful fish. The Sounds are lovely and a must do if you are in the area.
