This is a lovely little café. It is right on the main road, smack bang in the middle of town, close enough to get to on foot from all the main accommodation places, the ferry and the waterfront.
They offer counter food (muffins, sandwiches, pies and savouries) and a hot food menu. The menu includes standard breakfast choices and larger meals (including blue cod and chips, mussel fritters, etc served with chips or wedges and salad).
We were in Picton for 3 days, and went to this café everyday. The food was good, the prices were very, very reasonable. but the service was great.
I think that the counter food was OK. Not that special.
The pancakes were really good, as were the mussel fritters. The chips were outstanding. The bacon and eggs were scoffed down really enthusiastically! And the toast was accompanied by loads of spreads.
The pots of tea very generous and the iced chocolate looked like a heavenly Everest of cream, ice cream and chocolatiness. This was slurped up in no time.
The service was quick, friendly and very welcoming.
The premises were spacious, clean and bright. Seemed very kid friendly and inviting.
My only suggestions for improvement would be to improve the counter food. It wasn’t bad, but there is room for improvement. The hot food was great though.
