Breakfast on the Beach Lodge
Ranked #7 of 29 Waiheke Island B&B and Inns
Reviewed 3 May 2009

From the moment we arrived on Waiheke Island the lovely owners
at Breakfast on The Beach took care of us. The location, setting, rooms, breakfasts,
dinner recommendations were perfect. That was the end of our trip and
it was a perfect ending - we were very sad to leave! We would love to go back!

We stayed here for one night, and it was fantastic. Keith and Marilyn, the owners, were fantastic hosts, offering lifts (in Keith's convertible Chrysler!), complimentary drinks and nibbles in the evening, and anything else we required in their beautiful house. The facilities are second to none, including tv/dvd, internet, lovely garden & petanque court, and a great hot tub with a built-in ipod docking station!
We ate in a nice local restaurant, recommended to us by our hosts, and the next morning had the most amazing breakfast cooked for us by Marilyn. I'd nearly go back there just for the breakfast, it was better than any hotel breakfast I've ever had, and I've stayed in some nice hotels!!
We would definitely recommend this place to anyone looking for a luxurious 5 star stay but without the stuffiness of a 5 star hotel, Keith & Marilyn make their guests feel right at home.

Having traveled the world and have stayed in in primarily 4-5 star properties in Canada-USA-Europe-Asia-Dubai and without a doubt I would recommend at least a few nights at the BB Lodge. The breakfasts were remarkable and sharing an early evening glass of wine with our hosts was truly a treat. Discussions about aviation, boating and politics flowed freely. Have them make you all your restaurant reservations. Have them arrange for some scooters and explore all the great beaches and most importantly the views and vineyards. I have never felt so at home in a hotel, nothing has come close in 20 years of travel that made me feel this way. Its an experience to be shared. I have never rated hotels before, but this is truly a place worthy of special mention. Its not to be missed and I will be go back.

As for my girl friend, she was the one making sure I posted our comments as it was as equally romantic. We were there two nights and I had to leave, but certainly didn't want to.

Try out the jacuzzi and relax.

Breathe the fresh air and take it all in.

My fiance and I stayed with Keith and Marilyn on March 2 & 3. I had had a difficult flight over from California and was anxious to lay down and rest after we arrived in Auckland. They had our room ready for our morning arrival and Keith was there to meet us at the ferry. The property is absolutely beautiful, with every amenity you could want. The rooms were beautifully decorated, with very comfortable beds, lovely bedding, state of the art bathrooms, and a view to die for. Keith and Marilyn arranged for a winery tour which picked us up at the B&B, made dinner reservations for us at a fabulous restaurant (Cable Bay), and helped any way they could to help me start feeling better. They were the most lovely hosts and very helpful in answering all our questions about New Zealand. The breakfasts were delicious--definitely the best of our trip--and they had a lovely wine and hors d'oeuvres get together in the evenings. It was an amazing beginning to a totally amazing trip.

Marilyn and Keith- who own the lodge -are excellent hosts and made our stay most enjoyable. They lived in the US so were a font of knowledge about their county as compared to the US. The lodge is just beauitful, quite new, and they cater to every desire. They a lovely hot tub with privacy, complimentary bicycles to ride around the island and sumptuous 3-course breakfast prepared by Keith. Wine tasting at dusk. The rooms are lovely and large and comfortable. Every detail is considered for your pleasure!
We were celebrating our 20th annivesasry and Keith secured us a table at the nearby Cable Bay Winery on a crest to watch the sunset go down during dinner. It was magical!

Keith and Marilyn are great hosts, the location is very peaceful, but if required you can in a matter of minutes be in the hustle and bustle of the town of Oneroa.

The best Bed and Breakfast ever. Great location within walking distance to shops and beach. Modern large rooms with every attention to detail. Our hosts were great, even offering complimentary nibbles and wines in the evening. Nothing was too much trouble. The breakfasts in the morning were magnificent. Would highly recommend.
