Villa Pacifica

We stayed in one of the 1 bedroom units between RWC Semi final and final. Why? To detox, chill out and relax... which we did. Cliff picked us up of the ferry and provided some useful information on the drive to Villa Pacifica. It gave us a good overview of where to find the local shops and supermarket. In our accomodation, we found cereal and milk so we topped up our provisions and cooked meals on all 3 nights. The bed is very comfortable and we had no problems falling asleep as there is no noise outside at all. The unit wass very clean and tidy with amble crockery, cutlery, kitchenware and toiletries. There is a sofa bed in the lounge that is very comfy for watching telly from.
We also made use of the car provided and enjoyed exploring the island and many wineries. It just needed to have the fuel replaced so we explored the island comprehensively during our trip. The road to Stony Batter during torrential rain and a gale force wind is challenging. Did some excellent tastings of olive oil and wineand sampled a good couple of local bottles of reds and white with our meals.
Also very handy is the use of a washing machine, with powder provided and we did a couple of loads of clothes to get us through to returning back to Auckland.. There is a communal washing line that air dries the clothes in a very short time especially on a windy but sunny day and leaves them smelling so fresh. Be careful though as the grass can get waterlogged down by the line. The views over Rocky Bay are stunning.
Thanks also to Cliff for running us back to the ferry.
Would we stay there again - yes especially when we want to go somewhere remote for a few days but still be able to get into Auckland if we want.

Room Tip: If you want a bit more space select the 2 bed unit rather than the 1 bed one. The views from that ar...

We stayed in the 2 bedroomed apartment for 4 nights in between the Rugby world cup semis & final. We travelled on the passenger ferry & Cliff picked us up. En route he explained where everything was on the island pointing out useful places like the supermarket, petrol stations etc.

We had the free use of a small Toyota, just had to replace used fuel This made getting around very easy & we visited a few wineries, beaches etc.

The accomodation is delightful. Probably a little small for 4 people but great for 2. Every amenity & furnished to a very high standard with lots of thoughtful touches.

The views are stunning over Rocky Bay & we would have loved to have been able to use the outdoor furniture but it was far too windy whilst we were there. A very peaceful place, no outside noise due to remote location.

Cliff & Gaye are very welcoming & not intrusive. The freshly caught snapper supplied by Cliff on our arrival was delicious.

We stayed in the one bedroom (unit 1) for 4 nights. Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Gaye & Cliff were very welcoming - even though we arrived at 8pm on the first night - this was no bother to them. Gaye and Cliff gave us plenty of space to enjoy our time, but stressed that they were only in the main house should we need any assistance with anything.

The accommodation was very clean, comfortable and modern. Facilities were very good, everything that you need to cook etc, there was even a BBQ outside. The views of Rocky Bay were stunning - especially with the sunset very red one evening. Although the property is a little way out, this should not cause any problems due to the use of the free car.

PS: Look out for the nose-diving birds that sound like Tie-Fighters from Star Wars - they'll crack you up!

The accommodation consists of a two bedroom self contained unit which is attached to the main house and a one bedroom unit which stands alone below the main structure. Both units have views out over Rocky Bay area and Half Moon Bay plus some suburbs or Auckland. The property has a nice ambience and is well away from others. There is a drive up to the accommodation of probably 15 mins from Kennedy Wharf. This did not bother us, as we set out each day to explore the island and this area was more or less near the centre. The unit was tastefully furnished with a lovely outlook either over the lavender, the natural bushland or over the property and out to the bays. The kitchen was well placed and had ample storage. The units themselves are quiet new.
A car to drive around the island is also included in the tariff, although we did not use it and decided to bring our hire car across as we required it ,to fill in a whole day around Auckland before flying home.

We caught the car ferry from Half Moon Bay (near Bucklands Beach) south of the city. This was great as we didn't have to go through town in peak hour traffic on the way over or back.

The tariff also includes continental breakfast. This was small packets of cereal, milk and orange juice.

The owners gave us space, which I rather liked and made for a homely atmosphere.

I would recommend a short stay here to wind down before flying home.
