Koi Roc Waiheke Island Accommodation

We loved our stay last week at Koi Roc - such a hidden spot but still close to most things.
I think it is an affordable rate given you get a little home to yourself - the view is just priceless.

Jo was wonderful, the booking was easy and the place was so very clean on arrival.
Although the cooking facilities are basic we were able to use the bbq and little oven they had and made a few things during our stay. We also did a bush walk nearby that was wonderful.

I would have given a 5/5 but the bed had roll together a little to soft for my liking but otherwise everything was just PEFECT!

Room Tip: The Pad home was just perfect! All you need, very private and gorgeous view.

We stayed here and found that Koi Rock surpassed all our expectations. A self contained cottage decorated with style and flare. A simple warm feel with a nice decking area to sit and drink wine and be prepared for absolutely stunning view. I will definately be booking again when I need to go back to Waiheke. A beautiful location which offers privacy, peace and tranquility.

My partner and I stayed for 2 nights at the end of December 2010.

The booking process was very easy and we did not even see the owners, but Jo was very helpful in advance with restaurant recommendations etc

The location is awesome with your own BBQ and loungers overlooking the bay. The bed was comfortable, location lovely around 10km from the main shopping/restaurant area and very central to exploring the rest of the island.

The price is fair for the quality of accommodation, our only niggle, which we left feedback on in the lodgings, was that there were no cushions available for the loungers. Do be aware, there is no hob/cooking facility, so only the BBQ can be used for cooking anything.

A strong 4 out of 5, we would have no issue staying here again.

I am so very pleased you enjoyed your stay and I would like to thank you for taking the time to post this review. In reply to a couple of your comments:

The lounger cushions were stored under the bed. It was a shame you did not find them. I will suggest to the cleaner that they place the cushions in the wardrobe so that future guests can easily see them.

Our current cooking facilities include; a microwave, 6 burner BBQ which has a hob, pizza oven/grill.

Kindest regards,
Jo

We stayed at Koi Roc as a "mini-moon" after getting married a few days previously. (Our main honeymoon is a big trip to Europe in Sept). On first impression the accommodation looks like quite a basic hut but the view more than makes up for that initial impression. It's location on the less touristy side of the island is awesome, with bush walks and great beaches nearby. We stayed in the smaller accommodation and it certainly is compact and bijou! As we were honeymooners and had mentioned that when booking this boutique accommodation we expected some more personal touches from the on site owners; perhaps a card, a personalised note, some garden flowers, or possibly some local wine. Perhaps our expectations were too high... All we got were standard typed instructions and some long life milk in the fridge. Also the towels were like cardboard and there weren't any robes.

We did have an awesome time on Waiheke but feel like there are better standards of personalised service on the island that offer better value for money.

Koi Roc is a gorgeously quiet and scenic bach, with a true Waiheke feel - you feel like you're in another world. Great place to stay for a few days to relax and unwind. You do need a car, but you can walk in the bush and down to Rocky Bay below quite easily. Or you could just sit, read a good book, sip some local island wine and enjoy the stunning view.

The wife and I stayed at 'The Pad' and it was a wonderful experience. The Pad was clean and comfortable with a cosy feel and a fantastic view. The morning sun is awesome.

The bed is comfortable and warm. The bathroom is clean and modern, they provided nice soap. There is so much good produce on this island that we got supplies from the local shop and cooked a lot of our food. So much cheaper than hotels and you a sure to get what you want :) We had a BBQ one night with local meat from the butcher, local wine, local beer, olives, cheese and bread. It was one of the highlights of our trip.

There is a nice easy walking track just across the road and maps are in the pad. If you stay here then you will need to hire a car because it is not near anything. There were people staying at the other unit but we did not hear or see them once.

The only slight downside was that the small heater in the unit was not big enough to warm the whole hut. Although, we live in Singapore so we a probably more sensitive than most. It wasn't very cold, but not warm and toasty either. Just bring warm clothes in winter.

Overall this is a fantastic little place to stay and excellent value.

Since receiving your feedback we have installed a panel heater in the bedroom and have a larger oil burner heater that is available for guests to use in the living areas.
