“Well worth the effort.....”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 November 2011

We were having (not for the first time) a long weekend on Waiheke Island and when on Waiheke apart from relaxing, it would be churlish to not visit the wineries and sample their wines and in some instances food.

Passage Rock is a short drive to the less touristy side of the island. The winery itself is not as showy as some on the island but is very quaint and has a lot to offer.

We had one of our best tastings this trip here with our knowledgeable and friendly host, who was happy to discuss wines from the other wineries on the island too. My pick of their wines, the Rose and the Reserve Syrah. Yum.

We stayed for lunch and had calamari and a very nice pizza. We hadn't booked so were glad we got there early because it quickly filled up.

Would recommend that you see the other side of the island and visit Passage Rock. It is on my list to return to.

“Relaxing. Superb atmosphere.”

Located on the far eastern side of the island , this vineyard offers a wonderful mix of great Waiheke wine and delicious food. We have been here 4 times this summer and found the service, consistently good. As over summer our bed and breakfast is busy we do not hesitate to recommend guests to go to Passage Rock. The feedback in particular about the food is always excellent. Highly recommended!

“Ripped Off”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 29 January 2011

On arrival there were no wait staff to direct us to our table, even then the outdoor area we had booked and had confirmed was in use by another party so the manager tried to convince us to use a table inside which is far from desirable. Service was pathetic, this is a vineyard restaurant that makes ordering wine a challenge and the wait staff appear challenged in working it out too. To be fair, the food was great and the service improved out of sight once I'd given wait staff and manager a rev. I won't be going back.
