We were having (not for the first time) a long weekend on Waiheke Island and when on Waiheke apart from relaxing, it would be churlish to not visit the wineries and sample their wines and in some instances food.
Passage Rock is a short drive to the less touristy side of the island. The winery itself is not as showy as some on the island but is very quaint and has a lot to offer.
We had one of our best tastings this trip here with our knowledgeable and friendly host, who was happy to discuss wines from the other wineries on the island too. My pick of their wines, the Rose and the Reserve Syrah. Yum.
We stayed for lunch and had calamari and a very nice pizza. We hadn't booked so were glad we got there early because it quickly filled up.
Would recommend that you see the other side of the island and visit Passage Rock. It is on my list to return to.
