“Absolutely worth the drive!”
Reviewed 24 April 2014 via mobile

The winery is on the water front with the most wonderful views. We were visiting Waiheke for our 3rd anniversary and really enjoyed our time out there.

The menu is all finger food, platter type food. Cheeses, olives, dukkah and oil, bread etc.

We went on a rainy grey day but there was no wind in the bay, it was so peaceful.

The road is a bit of an adventure but if you take it easy, it's not hard.

Loved our trip to Man O' War winery and bought a bottle of Pinot Gris to have on our anniversary next year.

“Beautiful Setting”
Reviewed 7 April 2014

This would be the best located winery on Waiheke Island. It was a sunny clear day, the tide was full, the sand sparkled, and it was all right outside the door of Man O War. The Grounds are very family friendly, with plenty of seating. There were a lot of families picnicking within the grounds while enjoying what the winery had to offer. The lady that served our group was extremely knowledgeable, with her passion for her product clearly evident. After wine tasting, our group ordered several platters which we thoroughly enjoyed while sitting on the verandah enjoying the view. The food selection is limited, but in fairness, wine is their purpose for being. Despite the wines being of high quality, and very enjoyable, we felt that they were expensive. The only thing we didn't really like, was that they are dog friendly, and there were a lot of dogs running around barking, and even on one occasion even coming up to us while were eating, something of a hygiene concern, however, it didn't detract from our enjoyment. The road out to Man O War is dirt/gravel, and is very rough in places, so we recommend if you care about your car, using a tour operator, taxi, or rental car. Summer is definitely the best time to visit so that you can enjoy the outside and beach area.

“Scenic drive, scenic location, great food and wine”
Reviewed 6 April 2014

If you have the flexibility to drive or be driven here then getting to this side of the island is well worth it. Splendid scenic views on the way and then you arrive at the vineyard outlet which is set by the beach in the shade of the trees. With seating on the veranda and in the garden you are spoiled for choice. Lucky us on a beautiful clear morning we were first there and parked ourselves on the shady veranda. A bottle of their wine and a platter of chees and we were content for a good hour.

“What a location”
Reviewed 2 April 2014

Taking the drive to the far side of the island and driving long distances on a gravel road were so worth it!

Any closer to the water and Man o War would be in it! Beautifully landscaped grounds, sublime location, some great wines (we even took home a couple!), lovely platters, just completely relaxing.

If we hadn't been visiting several wineries before lunch, this is the one we would've happily stayed at for an extended period.

Hope to be back sometime soon.

“Great place”
Reviewed 3 March 2014

I loved it here: the location is truly spectacular, and sitting outside under the umbrellas a relaxing way to spend a few hours.
They serve yummy platters, with cheese, relish, breads, cold meat, oil etc.
The wine drinkers amongst our group said the wine was fantastic.
Overall a wonderful few hours.
