Stayed for 3 nights to experience this lovely boutique hotel. They do transfers from and to the ferry port and you and welcomed as a friend. Lovely views over the bay, comfortable and quirky rooms, amazing food and wine and just a few minutes walk down the road to the village. Look forward to going back on my next trip to NZ...

Staying at The Boatshed was an experience and a perfect one at that. It is relatively expensive but its much more than a hotel. We stayed in the lighthouse with its stunning views (atop and from bed), privacy (maybe a tad challenged on the top floor when seated at the table, especially at night), absolute comfort and quirkiness (like the "dumb waiter" that regularly overfed us). Each morning it arrived teeming with fresh fruits, breads, freshly squeezed juice, coffees etc...soon followed by the most stunning & creative cooked breakfast (savoury or sweet, your choice) I've ever had. We enjoyed breakfast every morning on the top level overlooking the gardens, bay and Oneroa Beach and felt very indulged (with no lunch required!). The dinners are so delicious, mostly comprising bountiful serves of fresh veggies from their garden and beautiful NZ fish/meats. As others have noted, its also the lovely touches like plentiful books, binoculars, beautiful decor and music, water beside the bed, the bed itself, port for after dinner, fresh flowers, unobtrusive service and the lovely complimentary wine and cheese platter Jonathan presented us upon our slightly early arrival. He and his delightful team are genuinely lovely people who welcome all and clearly enjoy adding to your stay (thank-you Jonathon, Sharon, Victoria, Dan, the talented chefs, gardener, and other lovely staff). It's a ten minute walk to the beach or village but you really want to stay to enjoy the hotel's ambience, dinners and stunning views. A wine tour can certainly add to the stay and we were very happy with Annanda (with an equally amazing (light by choice) lunch at Mudbrick). Waiheke itself is a beautiful place and easily accessed by ferry 30 minutes from Auckland. Throw in a ride on the Emirates A380 and you're in for a truly great experience. Well worth saving for.

Room Tip: The lighthouse enables you to enjoy the stunning views (breakfast and dinner) in private if you are...

Can't really fault this place, the only problem was checking out and heading homewards (not a problem) and officewards (a problem). the friendliness of everyone here is very clear and obviously comes from good management, people seem to actually enjoy their jobs (lucky them)

We stayed here for a total of 4 nights and wished we had longer to spend there. The first night we ate in their restaurant and it was nothing short of delicious. In advance you gave them what you didn't eat (and mine was huge a list of 35 things!) then they created a menu just for you. Every course including the TWO pre-apertisers were second to none. The service from the owner Jonathan to the right hand Sharon were brilliant and went beyond the call of duty. We loved the food so much we cancelled our booking at a vineyard to eat there again on our last night - again it was perfect so much so we suggested that the chef brings out a book. The room we stayed in was a bungalow and perfect too. Lovely bedroom with a separate lounge and an outside seating area. I would 100% recommend this for location, food and service top marks!

Room Tip: our bungalow was perfect

This was an amazing stay, and well worth every penny. I'm so sad we couldn't stay longer. Very easy pick up from the ferry terminal. Lovely welcome with drink and fresh fruit. Stunning view and just amazing hotel - homely and comfortable with amazing service. Delicious four course dinner with canapés too. Room incredible. We had the most amazing stay and just wish it had been longer.

Any hotel which tops up a jar in the room with liquorice allsorts twice a day was going to get 5 stars from me!
We spent 2 nights in one of the boatsheds which was the most beautiful hotel room I've ever stayed in whilst being very functional eg. bench large enough for 2 open suitcases, ironing board folded up in a drawer. The food was fabulous - really inspired breakfasts and delicious dinner in relaxed surroundings, both using produce from the adjacent market garden.
You don't need a car to stay here, they pick you up from the ferry and then the village, beaches and 2 wineries are an easy walk. A very relaxing stay.
