We booked the Jet Lag package having travelled 24hrs from Dubai - this was to be our only chance of down time on a 3 week holiday with family, so we sneaked into the Boat Shed without anybody else knowing. We could have stayed forever - 2 nights was just not enough, we wanted to return at the end of our holiday but they were fully booked. I have never encountered such warmth from owners and staff alike. Food, wine service first class. Nothing could have been more perfect. We cannot wait to come back and will always use the Boat Shed to begin our holidays in NZ. I must mention the candle fairies that sneak in whilst we are at dinner - charming!

Room Tip: The 3 Boat Shed are amazing - stunning views and close to main house area.

We had a fantastic 6th anniversary at The Boatshed once we got over a few bumps. Good stuff first: service, food, location, room and amenities were all fantastic. Breakfast was excellent and the staff made us feel at home. We had a few issues with sleeping the first night due to too much ambient light and the pillows. We stayed in late September, so it was still chilly at night, so we were quite thankful for the fireplace. However, the pilot light from the gas fireplace made sleeping very difficult (I need as much darkness as possible in order to sleep). A member of the staff helped us with the issue the next day and for the rest of the stay. The pillows were also a problem for both of us - they're the type that are very fluffy but provide little support, so after 10 minutes your head is flat on the mattress and the rest of the pillows are higher than your face. Most of the hotels I have visited will provide both types of pillows, letting the guest decide which they prefer. I think that for the price of accommodation, The Boatshed could do the same. We ended up using the more supportive pillows from the couch for the rest of the say. Other than that, we had an excellent time at The Boatshed.

Stayed for 3 nights what more could you want. Jonathan and his staff are wonderful, friendly and could not do more for us. We thank you all and I cannot wait to come back here. This is the most perfect place to stay, amazing food, wonderful wines, fantastic staff. The garden is great, where most if the vegetables come from for meals. You don't choose from a menu which is great no thinking so total relaxation and you can snack on the fruit and biscuits in your room or have cheese, olives and biscuits. We had a package and went on a wine tour with a hamper in our room on arrival which was great, wine, fruit, chocolates, honey, olive oil it had everything. We booked massages which were done in our room listening to relaxing music. This really is a haven and I would highly recommend it. There are loads really great books to read giving you lots of information of lots of different things, caters for many tastes. These places ares hard to find but this is definitely the find of the year for us.

The Boatshed is more a boutique hotel with welcoming staff, quality accommodation and great location. We stayed in a bungalow suite, which was actually across the road from the main part of the Boatshed. This wasn't a problem - except when it was wet and windy as it often appears to be. Breakfasts were great and dinner were also top quality although an extra fixed price of $110 per head to the accommodation costs. An alternative - of a snake of a light meal did not seem to be available. Everything about the place gave you a total enjoyable experience. However, in comparison with other similar experiences in Australia and New Zealand the coast of $930 per night including breakfast was a little expensive ( by about $200).

Stayed for 3 nights to experience this lovely boutique hotel. They do transfers from and to the ferry port and you and welcomed as a friend. Lovely views over the bay, comfortable and quirky rooms, amazing food and wine and just a few minutes walk down the road to the village. Look forward to going back on my next trip to NZ...
