“An absolute Gem!”
Reviewed 10 January 2006

We stayed at the "lodge" for two very short nights. The owners, who also cook you breakfast and dinner (for an additional charge) are amazing. Lodging on this Island and at this lodge is like taking a step back in time, maybe how Maui was in the 50's, but with all updated amenities and conveniences. The lodge is approximately 5-6 years old.

If you tend to be a bit non-social, like us, you must have dinner here one night. The two owners make you feel very special and put you at instant ease with the other guests (there was a total of 8 of us the night we dined in).

Our room had a King size bed, open shower (mid century, but in a new era), incredible towels, amenities, stereo system, linens, etc....

Make certain you book early as they only have a few rooms and they go quick! Take their suggestions for day trips, as they know the surrounding area very well. Waiheke is just starting to become popular so go before the masses.

This place was BY FAR the highlight our trip!!!! I don't even know where to start...The setting is beautiful, on top of a hill, overlooking a small bay. All rooms have king sized bed facing the ocean, with private balcony....beautifully decorated...but the "star" of this place is the food....we had hors-d'oeuvres...amazing...paired with local chardonnay and then moved on to dinner which consisted of gazpacho, rack of Vennisson, fish, salad and vegetables (all of these paired with amazing local wines). The meal was ended with (ultra) fresh fruit tart and whipped cream...BUT WAIT' THERE'S MORE!!! the next morning breakfast was just as amazing....the hosts Liz & Gene are ultra nice...this place is DEFFINETLY a MUST on your NZ ittinerary!!!
