The first room we were provided was damp and had mildew covering the windows. The style was 'cheap motel' 1970's. Went back to reception and asked for another room. Receptionist seemed less than concerned but did provide an alternative. This time the room was more up to date but no-where near the quality expected for the tarrif being paid. The bathroom shower had black mold around the door and tiles, the towels were small (suitable for small child) and the water pressure would gave been stronger if we'd stood under a half blocked watering can! The condition of the bathroom fittings and walls was appalling.

Breakfast: All included in the price, powdered egg scrambled eggs, baked beans, and bacon dripping in fat. This place really is stuck in a time warp! Coffee was instant coffee!

For $240 per night! You have to be kidding!!

I found the climb from our room too steep. I would ask for a more level one next time, with bedside tables please! Not enough space in the shower room but the rest of the unit was very good.
The swimming pool and seating around it was very clean and pleasant. Palm Beach area is just lovely with a safe friendly beach.
Food at the resort was OK and the butter chicken was very good. Views from the dining room, superb.
Sharon met us with a handshake and beautiful smile . The rest of the staff very pleasant too.

Spent two nights with extended family, and although the rooms are lovely and reasonably spacious with most of what you would need, they are expensive for what you get, for example we expected free internet access at least and a larger kitchen area, the breakfast was just OK, not a big range of breads and when one of our party queried if we could get a boiled egg, we were told that they only did one type each morning, there also seemed to be only one highchair for the entire restaurant We ordered room service dinner on the first night and this was slow to deliver and nothing more than OK in quality and quantity The views are lovely from the balcony and the beach is just about walkable, not sure how good it would be for very young kids or the elderly as there are a lot of steps and hills and the balcony may be a temptation to climb on for kids, all in all a nice enough stay but nowhere near the best or best value we got on our visit to new zealand

We had a great stay. The rooms have been overhauled and look and feel fresh and inviting. Our 1 bedroom villa was spacious yet cosy. It is well laid out with a great on the wall flatscreen TV that swivels between the lounge and bedroom area. Good thinking! Cosy couch and large chair to relax on, or sit on the furniture on your private balcony. A glass wall gives a seemless view. Good thinking! The glass surround shower had really good water pressure and was height adjustable. Another good thought!

The room was clean and furnishings were lovely. Subtle colours not screaming at you! Staff were very helpful getting more supplies (coffee, tea etc) and even gave us a bottle of milk.
The weather was not brilliant for our visit so I cannot comment on the pool, or tennis courts except to say they looked well kept and inviting.
We had a package deal that included 2 dinners at the resort restaurant. Even if you have other accommodation, I recommmend going here for dinner. It was absolutely gorgeous both nights. The lamb rack was succulent. Beautilfully presented. There is a great chef hiding back in that kitchen.
Breakfast time presented a full range of cereals and fruits, the usual cooked options and a selection of breads to toast. A lovely view to look out at while you dine.
Afterward our dinner one night we settled over to the lounge area in comfy chairs to enjoy the rugby.

Having read some reviews online I was VERY wary but things have obviusly improved 100%. A great place to stay and dine.

Great location. Extremely disappointed in quality of the rooms. The cleanliness of the rooms and bathrooms was sub-standard. No phone was provided. Lack of power point outlets and none were provided in the bathrooms. No hairdrying facilities. Lack of reading lights in bedrooms. Expense for the accomodation standard provided is considered too costly. Would not recommend this resort as a waiheke destination.
