“Hei Matau-Waiheke perfection”
Reviewed 20 January 2013

We are inveterate travellers and particularly focus on quality boutique accomodation in beautiful locations. We were fortunate to spend a weeklend at Fiona and Peter's magnificnet property Hei Matau.
Hei Matua is the equal of any Relais & Chateau, the setting is beautiful and ammenities first class and Fiona and Peter are consumate hosts, with an in-depth knowledge of the local sights, restaurants and vineyards.
All in all a perfect retreat.

Hei Matau is a fantastic, luxurious property overlooking the Hauraki Gulf. Peter and Fiona are great hosts, and are passionate about the property, and ensuring their guests have a great time. Waiheke Island is a relaxing place, with plenty to see and sample, and Peter and Fiona have great knowledge of the choices. However for laid back relaxation and privacy, it would be hard to beat spending your day lounging back at Hei Matau, in the sun, in the pool or the spa, or on the "jetty", watching the boats go by in front of you. Amazing. Thank you.

Thank you Fiona and Peter for a wonderful weekend. Such an amazing and beautiful house with stunning views! Couldn't have picked a better place to stay on Waiheke! Had great time fishing in the channel and watching the stars from the spa. The breakfast Fiona cooked was restaurant quality and the pancakes were FANTASTIC!
Thank you for a lovely stay and we hope to be back soon!

Hei Matau Lodge provides a wonderful environment to relax and contemplate the view. Peter and Fiona were fantastic hosts and went the extra mile to make our stay the best it could be. Their local knowledge of the island and their recommendations for restaurants and sightseeing made for an amazing couple of days. The food and wine that Peter and Fiona served was nothing short of perfect. We loved the savoury and sweet waffles! Hei Matau Lodge is amazing. It is a lovely place to escape to.

Room Tip: The Kereru, Kina, and Koura rooms all have stunning sea views.

We were lucky enough to be among the first guests at this stunning new lodge on Waiheke Island. Peter and Fiona are great hosts and can’t do enough for you. They provided a delicious breakfast and we really enjoyed the evening nibbles and wine, which were served in the summer lounge. Our room was gorgeous (beautiful bed and linen) with lovely views out to Motuihe Island and Auckland City beyond. This is the best place by far that we have stayed at on Waiheke Island.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful but our favourite and where we stayed was Kereru.
