“Quirky hotel”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 May 2014

Beautiful views but tired chalets rooms. Mine had a broken large window stuck with selotape, thought it would fall out each time I shut the door!
Inside the room was dusty, pretty towel sculptures but might have been better if staff spent more time cleaning instead of making shapes from towels.
Bathroom was deark and dingy and toilet would not flush properly. Water was switched off between mid-night and 6.30 am, not good for an early riser.
Air con worked reasonably, TV did not.
Food was reasonably good but no butter available (but this was not the only place)
Disapointed that the person in charge of the keys to the caves was not to be found as would like to have seen them.
Entertainment was excellent and free, better than Tropicanna in my opinion.
Bit of a trudge to the town.

My wife Simone and I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights in February 2014 and we really enjoyed
our stay there. Dayamis (Dayi) the girl at public relations made our stay even better by making
us feel like we were visiting her home. She was always there for us and you could see that she really liked her job. Yaislady was the one doing our room and she was beyond excellent in making
animal decorations with towels on our bed every day. Breakfast and supper buffets were included
in the price and were very good.

Room Tip: We stayed on top of the hill in a bungalow type room with a big patio facing the pool. #7.

We stayed here for one night as part of a tour of Cuba. It has chalet type accommodation spread out up a hill. Our room, unlike some others was quite reasonable and the towels done in the shape of swans made us feel welcome. The food both at dinner and at breakfast was a buffet and was reasonable without being anything special. The worst thing was the music, the trio playing just could not sing at all. To escape from it we retreated to the veranda outside to sit and enjoy the view.

Early Butlins on a hilside came to mind. The distances involved in getting to the main building could be daunting in the rain. Our chalet was fairly grotty, single glazed metal framed windows and doors with a the rear yard of bare cracked concrete not accessible as the door was locked and screwed shut. The bathroom was basic and the large window swung open to allow unauthorised access for people or local widlife. Air con was so noisy we had to switch it off and suffer the heat and humidity. Most of the power points were dodgy and you had to search for a reliable power source fo recharging batteries or just the bedside lights.
Food was reasonable in choice and quality for dinner and breakfast.
Some chalets seemed better and some were worse. Our Cosmos/Archers small group of 28 seemed to be in the poorer quality end of the range.

Room Tip: If you can get one of the better chalets??? then this is not such a bad choice

Visited here for two nights as part of our Explore group tour. The hotel comprises a main building with reception, bar and restaurant. The rooms are in chalet buildings set on a hillside overlooking the city of Trinidad. I was fortunate as I had a very spacious chalet H24 to myself, it was close to reception and did not have any problems. Two people in the group had a drain problem in their chalet which wasn't very pleasant.

There was a swimming pool at the top of the complex that looked very inviting but did not have time to try it out.

Only had breakfast in the hotel. This was a large buffet breakfast with a good choice. The hotel is popular with large tour groups so it can get very busy at breakfast.

The best part of the stay was sitting on the hotel terrace having a drink watching the sun set over the city of Trinidad.

We really liked the hotel and the boungaloues. The staff was really friendly and informative.
Its an amazing view (and area) where this hotel is based, and you can walk to central trinidad – however its nto walking distance from the beach. As the hotel is up a hill you need to be in good shape to walk to/from the hotel.
There is secutiry guars every where, which makes you feel safe. And when you go for a walk in the hotel area you can even ”bump” in to a beautiful horse on the grass in the area.
Be sure to go to the Disco Cuevas – no matter what age you are, its an experience! 
