I stayed at casa los balcones for 1 night in april 2014. The food was just AMAZING !!!! They totally catered to my wants and needs, and the portions were big. The place was clean, I had the whole top floor to myself with a room with 2 beds, and a bathroom and kitchen on the same floor. They have a mini bar in the kitchen, where you can eat and its your own private area. There is a living room and a long balcony surrounding the whole top floor with view on 2 streets (it on a corner). The owners/staff/family were super nice and friendly. They don't speak english but it was nice to try communicating with them. The room as no windows, and there is a hall between the room and the balcony, which i liked cause it made it very quiet at night, i could not hear the street action while sleeping therefor had a restful sleep. the top floor was bright during the day and lots of air circulation. There is air conditioning in the room if needed. it is also close to downtown. there is a little area on the main floor at the back, like a patio if you want to eat closer to the family . They let me put my bike inside the house. It had a non pretentious, friendly, familial and very cuban feel. loved it!

I can't believe I'm reading reviews about the same casa we stayed in for one night in May 2014. The casa was dark with low ceilings. All the windows were closed and covered with drapes. The room was dingy, tiny and windowless. The air conditioner (no fan) was loud and had only one setting -- freezing. The beds were so soft I could feel the slats digging into my back. Dinner was the most awful piece of gray, old chicken, greasy fried bananas and a salad of old cucumbers, dry carrots and white tomatoes. We spent one very long night there and had our bags packed by 7 am. When we checked out, Mildrey tried to charge us CUC$5 more than the reservation confirmation stated was the nightly fee. There are so many other wonderful places to stay -- avoid this one.

Mildre, the owner of this Casa Particular has poured her heart and soul into making this casa comfortable, immaculately clean, friendly, and welcoming. She went above and beyond to meet our every need, invited us to a family gathering which was great fun, and she and her cousin are WONDERFUL cooks for both breakfast and dinner ($5 and $10 each respectively). A family member was going to Sancti Spiritus the same day we were and gave us a ride in his vintage Plymouth which was great fun. Mildre's sister, Vania. also has a casa across the street which was also very nice, but a bit smaller and with a tight winding staircase up to the guest room. If Mildre's casa is full, I would ask if there is room at Vania's. A really stellar family. This casa is 4 blocks from a plaza and just a short walk to being in the middle of Trinidad.

I stayed 1 night and wish I had stayed more. I had an entire floor to myself. Everyone was very nice and helpful. The rooms and bathroom were spotless!! I totally recommend the place to stay. It was in walking distance to center of town and the historical center.

We spent 11 nights in Los Balcones, Trinidad! And in total 1 month traveling different parts of Cuba.

We will come back to Cuba, and definetly spend some time in Trinidad and Los Balcones.

Our trip was our first transatlantic trip with our Kid, Valter 1 year old. The treatment we, and especially Valter, got was amazing. The friendly Mildrey and her "team" were always very helpful, loving, flexible and carying.

The food was well prepared for us, as well for Valter.

Another great thing is the balcony. The huge balcony. From here you can take part of the everyday cuban life in the streets. Also a great place for a one-year-old kid to crawl around. The lovely rocking chairs are perfect for chilling with a great book, while the kid is asleep in the room next to you.

The place is very clean, superbley cleand every day.

Altogether, this was the best 11 nights we had in Cuba. Trinidad offers an amazing relaxing atmosphere, and Mildrey and Los Balcones, definetly contributes to that feeling.

We stayed at Los Balcones for 2 nights. This casa particular is spotlessly clean, and everything is well-thought for the comfort of the guests. I would encourage other people to stay there.

Like several others before us, we thought we were booked into Hostal Milagrosa but when we arrived at the Viazul Bus Station we found it was Mildrey who met us with 2 bicycle taxis and took us to her casa – Hostel Los Balcones – which was opposite Mila’s. We were a little annoyed, thinking we had been short-changed, but once we went in and saw the accommodation at Los Balcones, we were absolutely delighted. The whole of the first floor is yours! A bedroom, with 2 beds, a huge bathroom with terrific shower, hairdryer and little extra toiletries, a sitting room, a kitchen where breakfast and dinner was served and the great bonus – a huge balcony that wrapped around the whole street corner. The fridge was always well stocked with beers and cold drinks so it was lovely to return after a day out, grab a beer and a book, claim a rocking chair on the balcony and watch the world go by. We were thrilled.
We had our own “maid”, who prepared the breakfast, kept our rooms clean and came back and served dinner to us on the nights we chose to eat in. On a couple of occasions we invited an American friend to join us for dinner too. The food was good and the lobster we had one night was excellent.
Although neither my daughter nor I wanted anything cooked for breakfast, it was always offered. We had bowls of fresh fruit each day and different fresh juices obviously according to what they had been able to buy that day. Mildrey was always on hand and when we came back to the casa in the late afternoon, she always offered us a drink, fresh juice, coffee or something alcoholic – a nice touch. We stayed in Trinidad for 6 nights, taking the opportunity to lie on the beach at Playa Ancon on 3 days, spending a day hiking in the forest at Topes des Collantes, and spending a day seeing the sugar valley and old plantations.
We did pop over the road to see Mila several times as she does speak a little more English and she was very helpful booking our next casa for us. All in all, it was a great visit
