This beautifully restored 1756 colonial casa and 'hanging gardens' patio in the historic old part of Trinidad is the best casa in Trinidad as many others have also mentioned. I stayed here for 4 nights and the hosts Manuel and Elizabet are wonderfully kind and helpful people without being over bearing. Manuel was very interesting to talk to about the history of the house and he can help organise English speaking taxi / driver to visit surrounding areas. The dinners at the casa and the breakfasts in the patio garden are delicious and good value. The best breakfast I had in Cuba! They deserve all the great reviews on T/A as they really work hard to ensure your stay at their casa is memorable.

Pros:
-You could not ask for kinder, more accommodating hosts.
-The house is beautifully decorated with lots of period features.
-The rooms are clean and well furnished. Ours was a room for three with privet shower/toilet. There 's a tv, fan, air conditioning, fridge with water & beer, selection of books and even an iPhone charger.
-The patio/ garden is very pretty.
-Breakfast and dinner are tasty and extensive.

Cons:
Sorry, can't think of any. This place really is excellent!

Really great and beautiful casa. The house is from around 1750 and is just fantastic.
The room was the best we have stayed in, in all of Cuba. Clean, good aircondition, large bathroom etc. There's also a really pretty garden.
Their chef made wonderful food and we had 4 courses every evening.
The casa i located in the historical area and only 5 minutes from casa de la musica, where there's live music every evening.
The family is so nice. A bit more reserved than the other families we have stayed at - but that's actually nice. Still they took very good care of us.

I highly recommend this casa particular in a beautiful town of Trinidad. We stayed there last summer for a couple of nights (next time I make sure we stay for longer :))
The owners are very welcoming and friendly. Make sure you order your breakfast and dinner there - we had a real feast in their enchanted patio garden. They both spoke English and were able to recommend places for going out.
If you are looking for a relaxed atmosphere and an original, full of character place to stay in Trinidad, look no further. Excellent!

Having spent three weeks travelling around Cuba staying in various casas, all of which we had sourced via Tripadvisor, we confidently can say Case Colonial in Trinidad is simply the best.

A delightful 18th century restored Spanish colonial house in the heart of Trinidad Old Town (why do people bother staying in the main town?!) and one minute from Plaza Mayor. The welcome you receive from Manuel (he meets you at the bus station) and his wife puts you instantly at ease.

There are presently only two rooms - try to get the patio room - but both are lovely, clean and spacious. The bathrooms are great. The gem of course is the patio courtyard, secluded, full of ferns, plants, mango trees and Chinchita (pet iguana!), the perfect place to relax in the hammocks whilst sipping a mojito and reading.

We stayed for five days, wish it could have been longer. Top tip - buy a painting from the artist opposite the casa - he'll hand paint one of the casa for you for under 10CUC.

Great memories.

Room Tip: Choose the patio room.

This casa is absolutely stunning and the perfect place to stay in Trinidad - as it's in the old town but in a quiet area. Our family (me, my husband, and our two sons, 13 and 9) had one big room with two double beds (more than spacious enough for all of us) and a nice bathroom with a walk-in style shower (with lovely towels) for 4 nights. The house has been beautifully restored, with lovely period furniture and decor, and has a wonderful shady patio, with many plants and trees, chairs and hammocks - a veritable oasis and such a great place to relax after sightseeing. Manuel can help out as little or as much as you like with excursions (he arranged for a very friendly taxi driver to take us to a local beach, and to pick us up later that day)- and makes delicious mojitos! The food is also amazing - great breakfasts and very tasty and plentiful dinners (we had dinner there on 2 nights - very good value). We invited some people we met on one of our tours (to one of the parks in Topes de Collantes - a great day out) back to the casa for a drink one evening and they said they felt a bit depressed going back to theirs (which had nothing wrong with it) - that sums it up! There is also lots to do in and around Trinidad - we could have easily spent a week here. If we come back we will definitely return to this casa! It is popular though so make sure you book ahead.

This is the best casa we have stayed in during our travelling around Cuba. Its an old colonial house, refurbished by the Unesco. It has got an old beautiful furniture, stunning high wooden ceilings and the most amazing jungle like looking garden full of stunning plants, mango trees, a couple of hammocks, an iguana lives there.. We even saw a humming bird a few times flying in the garden. Just amazing. I want a house like that!!
We didnt want to leave that place, we just admired it all day long..
Manuel and his wife, the owners of the casa are the most kind and helpful hosts, they cook fantastic meals which you can eat in their garden. Its such a pleasure to stay there.
Its quite hard to book a night there, its always full so you should try to book in advance.
Lots of people just come in to take the photos of the house because its a well known casa admired by many people.
The location of the house is very central, you can walk to the main square in 2 minutes.
This should be the casa number one in Trinidad!
Thank you for all your kindness Manuel and your family.
We would love to come back again!
