“Trinidad's finest Casa with owners to match”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 May 2014

All the glowing reviews you read and the stunning pictures you see are 'for real'; and deserved.
This Casa is perfectly situated and the owners are perfectly suited to affording you the most exquisite time in Trinidad. The patio is a haven of tranquility and you'll be able to enjoy hummingbirds, lizards and other wildlife up close. (The hammocks and the other two smaller terraces are also worth a mention.)
Food is fresh, fresh, fresh and served with warmth and on beautiful crockery. Elisabeth and Manuel Castillo have created a space worthy of many top quality boutique hotels. You're staying in history here and it's difficult to choose between the quaint cobbled streets and colourful homes of Trinidad or just relaxing in the Casa itself. Whatever you do, it will be a memorable experience.
Thanks to Manuel, Elisabeth for all your kindness and hospitality. We hope to visit once more and introduce others to this little slice of heaven.

Room Tip: All rooms open out onto the patio/terraced rainforest garden - so it's really a choice between b...

Book this casa and you will not have any regrets. Manuel is a real gentleman and answered all my emails promptly before we left our country for Cuba. Manuel is very helpful and nothing is too much trouble. He has really done a fine job with renovating the house particularly the outstanding garden in the middle of the house. It was very serene to sit out there with a book and watch the hummingbird fly past and hear the birds chirping.

Room Tip: Either of the rooms in the garden is spacious and and quiet.

Manuel and his family are exceptionally hospitable and welcoming. Manuel was waiting at the Viazul bus station with a paper with my name on it, and happily helped my wife and I with our bags across Trinidad's cobbled streets.

The Casa itself is beautiful, with a colonial reception room more akin to a museum. This leads into the family kitchen and then the true treasure - the Patio! Recently done up, it revolves around two massive mango trees, and has plenty of shade and seating. Manuel will furnish you with drinks, and I would also recommend you stay for an evening meal (charged extra) prepared by his wife and some helpers. The rooms are relatively small, but accommodate two small double beds and a private en suite toilet and shower. You'll spend more time in the Patio (and the lively city centre 2 minutes away) than in your room.

We stayed only one night, but should have stayed longer. Manuel then organised a long distance taxi ride - very helpful when he has all his local and somewhat far away contacts! Definitely recommend this casa.

My wife and I had the most amazing and relaxing time at Casa Colonial Trinidad for 3 nights in early February. The old Spanish mansion is immaculate both inside and out with a stunning courtyard (which feels more like a rainforest). All with resident hummingbirds and lizards. The location is perfect and breakfast is delicious (really fresh juices). However, it’s the owner’s Manual & Elizabeth & staff that are the real reason the casa is so delightful. Their attention to detail and friendliness make you feel right at home from the start. The casa has a really special atmosphere and we would love to return and stay longer next time.

This was absolutely the most beautiful casa with the nicest garden in Cuba. The hosts were very helpful. I had an allergic reaction at mosquito bites and they told me were to by meds. The food was also very good. It's absolutely worth to go there.

Hi! This was my first stay in any casa as I typically prefer a hotel but i must say the hospitality here was nothing short of a Hotel. The casa itself is wonderful with 17th century architechure and the rooms are spacious and clean.

Senior Manuel, who owns the Casa was a gracious host and we had an absolutely wonderful time staying there. The out door breakfast was the icing on the cake. I strongly recommend it to people going to Trinidad.

Stayed here for five nights in Jan. We were completely bowled over by how stunning this house is. We had the most amazing room looking out on to the tropical paradise of a patio garden. The room was tastefully decorated and felt incredibly quiet and tranquil. Waking up to a huge breakfast spread, beautifully laid out with antique china felt incredibly magical. The food was great, the highlight being the homemade croquettes. Manuel and Elizabeth were really lovely hosts; kind, thoughtful and respectful. They brought us camomile tea and papaya juice when one of us got sick which really helped. Staying here felt like a real treat and great value considering the incredibly luxurious standard of this guesthouse. Thank you to you both for an amazing stay. We are recommending you to our friends for their honeymoon!
