I would agree with Tom840 that this is not 5 star but close. Where it ticks all the boxes is in the lovely and quite frankly huge rooms - we also had a great corner balcony overlooking the square which was a nice perk - and also the elegant reception/lobby area which is quiet and serene and lovely to come into away from the hustle and bustle of the heat outside - and it is very hot in Trinidad in August!!
Where it is not 5 star is in the slightly uneven service - though I would hasten to say that everyone is very helpful - and the not always successful food which is not quite up to the standards of its sister hotel in Havana. A very odd Caesar salad was one example of this though their breakfast tortilla was really good.
The one thing this hotel sadly lacks is a swimming pool - I might have given it the 5 stars if it had that though I do understand why it couldn't with the space they have to play with.
In all though, a very, very nice place and we really enjoyed our stayMore
