Holgiun being no standard tourist attraction is worth a trip as you get the opportunity to experience traditional and real Cuba.
The casa ist located right in the city centre and is easy to find with a regular tourist guide. The host is friendly, well informed and - if you speak just a bit Spanish - always interested in a good chat: Insider tips for trips around town and the area at first hand.
The room offers enough space for traveller's stuff and is furnished with everything you need: TV, fridge, cupboards, airconditioning and a standard double bed. The bathroom directly situated next to the bedroom is clean.
I loved the breakfast: a variety of fresh fruits, good coffee and bread with eggs (any type) and cheese as well as some juice. Standard but neatly served Cuban breakfast.

Would book it again!

First of all, Holguin is a bit off the beaten track in Cuba tourism terms. So kudos to you for even looking at coming to the city. It's interesting and much more "normal" than other Cuban cities that get more tourism.

Our experience with this B&B was a mixed bag. On the one hand, location was excellent, you're right in the centre of town and it's pretty easy to find it (note that oddly, their door number is different to what they say on their own business cards, it's 69 rather than 71...but this being Cuba that's not a massive issue as the neighbours will just refer you next door). We found it at night without any trouble. The breakfast is OK without being exceptional - eggs, bread, fruit and fruit juice, standard tourist breakfast fare in Cuba. Things are mostly clean, but it's a bit grimy in the corners and I was struck by the fact that I saw more insects here than I did in other Cuban casas particulares. There's a T and air conditioning, but there's no way of closing all the gaps in the windows, hence the influx of night time mosquitoes (if you're really sensitive to the bites, take vitamin B pills and wear DEET to bed...)

Rodolfo is very friendly. He's (I think) a radiographer, and has also worked as a doctor in Venezuela. If you speak Spanish well you'll be away - we had only English and Italian to offer up but managed to have a reasonable conversation with him. We did all the bookings in (bad!) Spanish by e-mail as well.

In short this is neither exceptional nor a professional casa particular. But it is OK as a place to rest your head, if a tiny bit noisy in the mornings (there's some neighbouring aircon system that starts up quite early and is loud and drippy). It's acceptable but don't think you'll be having any kind of massive romantic experience here - the closest it comes to a hotel-like gesture is the presence of two small and rather tragic silk pot plants in the bathroom, which really need either dusting or binning altogether.
