“Unforgettable Felling”
Review of Glenn Highway

Reviewed 4 April 2014 via mobile

We took Glenn Hwy from Anchorage to Seward. This is something you must do. There are a lot of beautiful spots along the way to stop and take pictures. Try to take this hwy on a sunny morning or afternoon. All the beauty of nature that we saw really inspired me. It reminded me how precious the life is.

We took the Glenn Highway on our trip from Seward to Wrangell-St Elias National Park. It offers spectacular views of mountains and glaciers. We drove it in late May when the mountains were still snow covered. The road was in very good condition with little traffic and little construction. Gas and food is difficult to find once you are east of Palmer or west of Glennallen. Sheep Mt Lodge is right off the highway and is a great place to stay or eat and break up the trip. If you have extra time, Lake Louise Lodge is about 20 minutes off of the highway on Lake Louise and is a great place to eat and relax. Be sure to obey the speed limit signs. We saw a semi that failed to heed them and rolled his truck on a curve. The Glenn Highway is a great way to see parts of Alaska missed by many travelers.

There are areas along the Glenn that look like what you expect to see in Alaska. The mountains are big, there are glaciers (there are a number of spots to see Matanuska Glacier from the highway), and there are remote spots that look pristine even though there is population in the area. A very nice ride, with some nice curves to keep the drive interesting too, and a good addition to the Richardson Highway drive to Valdez.

My sisters and I drove from Anchorage -> Fairbanks -> Valdez -> Anchorage -> Whittier. And we all agree Glenn highway is the most beautiful highway among all.
