Get a tube, grab your friends, snag a ride out of town and hit the river! Locals will advise best spots to get in and out of the water. You can use one of the local rafting companies or go on your own. Free tube fill stations in the park where we went in. A lovely relaxing way to spend a hot day in Boise, ID. Water was clean, the locals friendly, no trash on the banks. Even at 55yrs old with a spine fusion, I had no problems. We had a blast and will do again next Summer! Great fun!

We've visited family in Boise last 2 summers and floating the river has been one of our favorite activities. We've rented rafts and tubes from Epley's and have been very pleased with the equipment. The river itself is relatively fast with 3 minor rapids and you do have to watch out for low branches around several corners. The water is cold and feels great in the July heat. Renting a tube feels great especially when the sun is at its hottest (if it gets shady or too late it can get cold). There is time to have kids hang off the raft in between fast sections but you do need to pay attention to the river. It is very scenic and really enjoyable. You'll see people floating in all kinds of things (inflatable mattresses, furniture) and is really fun. We've done 4 and 6 person raft which are both good although going over the rapids is a little more fun in 4 person one.

My older teen daughter and I floated the Boise River from Barber Park to Ann Morrison Park. There are several sections where the water drops just a bit or moves more quickly. We got splashed once because we purposefully aimed for a rough patch. There are several places where the water is shallow. You do need to pay attention and respect the river because of tree branches, hidden rocks. I had never floated it before, but there are enough people on the river to follow to know where to go. At Barber Park there is an air pump to fill your own inflatables. There are real bathrooms and tubes and rafts to rent. At Ann Morrison Park they collect the rented equipment. There are big signs telling you where to get out. Paddles and life jackets are included in the price. It takes between 2 and 3 hours to float. The water was very cold and clean, but don't drink it. People are friendly and helpful if you need anything.
