Kent Island has something for everyone. Easy to reach from a number of metropolitan areas, but mentally a million miles away. Recommend you stay in one of the very convenient hotels (we like the Hilton Garden Inn) and park the car for the duration. More on that later.
Restaurants/bars cover the spectrum from "boater/biker" (e.g., Jetty or Red Eyes) to more upscale and excellent (e.g., Bridges or the Narrows). All are "on the water," feature great service and are within walking distance of the hotels. Happy hours are worth catching. Given the crowd at the boater bars, the Maryland State and local police have a pretty high, but low key, presence. Hence my comment about the hotels/parking the car. If you're driving, be careful. Enjoy. Kent Island is a blast, especially if you spend the night.

From Stevensville to Grasonville; From Romancoke to Love Point; Kent Island has public piers for fishing and crabbing, kayak rentals, nearby wildlife preserves, plenty of restaurants (where TripAdvisor can be VERY helpful), cross-island biking and jogging trail and lots more.

Kent Island, MD is a delightful destination! There are numerous restaurants, such as Annie's (world's best BLT), The Bridges (best view) and the best kept sushi secret in Maryland, Cafe Sado! Aside from the wonderful waterfront views, there is an amazing bike trail that winds over the entire island. Flat, paved and easily ridden. You can charter a fishing boat or rent a sailboat for a terrific day on the bay. There are numerous motels and inns if you want to spend more than a day. Within an easy drive is a huge outlet mall for the shop-a-holics. There is even a small airport if you will be visiting by private plane. I would recommend a visit to Kent Island to anyone looking for a true taste of the Chesapeake Bay.

We have tried most of the restaurants in Kent Island, from high end to low, and have found surprisingly few good ones, especially and peculiarly when it comes to seafood. The all around best, and not the cheapest by any stretch, mind you, is "The Narrows", right on an inlet of The Bay. You do get a pleasant view, either from within the dining room or out on the"Porch" of fishing boats or diving ducks. The food is the what makes "The Narrows" better than all the others, the best seafood, especially crab dishes, and a nice mix of steaks, soups and sandwiches, as well as new specials and appetizers. Service is always friendly and professional. There is full meal service at the nice bar in the dining room, too.

Again, this place is not inexpensive, but it is worth it, and you walk out feeling you've had a civilizing experience.

A small caveat is that the Porch is directly exposed to the sun throughout the year. It is well air-conditioned seasonally, but if you don't like to be sitting with that direct glare on your face, ask to seated inside.
